The IB Learner Profile aims to develop students who are inquirers. Students who are inquirers nurture their curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. They know how to learn independently and with others. Inquirers learn with enthusiasm and sustain their love of learning throughout life.
1. Try the "See, Know, Wonder" Strategy (BITE SIZE PD below)
2. Utilize the Wonder Wall!
3. Modeling... during "I DOs" model curiosity!
4. Probing Questions to STRETCH student understanding and rigor
-Always follow up answer and ASK students to explain their thought process

BITE SIZE PD: "See, Know, Wonder": A Visible Thinking Strategy
Encourage your students (or your child) to engage in inquiry with the three simple prompts below:
What do you see?
- What do you see?
- What do you notice?
What do you know?
- What do you think is going on?
- What makes you say that?
- Make an inference or prediction
What do you wonder?
- What questions do you have?
- How will you find your answer?
(These go to the wonder wall!)
Promoting Inquiry in The Early Years
Use this Sesame Street video "I Wonder" to promote the trait of being an "Inquirer" and the use of the "Wonder Wall".
- In Pre K and Kinder classes, the "Wonder Wall" could be QR codes of video of students sharing their wonderings.
- In 1st Grade and 2nd Grade, use question stems for the wonder wall!

Lipscomb Family-
This year, one our biggest goals with the IB Program is to execute the PYP 5th Grade Exhibition (PYPX)!
This is an end of unit PYP project for our 5th graders and a powerful demonstration of student agency as learners exercise VOICE, CHOICE and ownership by inquiring into local or global issues that are significant to them.
The PYPx Date is Thursday May 19, 2022
We can anticipate some students might want to build prototypes or models for their project (although they are not required to do this), so we want to have a source for our students to be as imaginative as possible.
-Toilet paper rolls

-Clean Egg Crates
-Plastic/Paper Cups
