NWEA MAP Scores sent home by Thursday, 9/12/24
Dear Amazing Families of Madison Park,
We wanted to inform you that your child's NWEA MAP scores will be sent home with students by Thursday, September 12th. These scores provide valuable insight into your child’s academic progress in Reading and Math.
As a reminder, our students took the MAP assessment in Reading and Math on August 13th and 15th, and all makeups for students who were absent have now been completed. The MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) Assessment is an adaptive test that measures your child’s skills in both subjects. The results help teachers make instructional decisions that promote academic growth. This assessment is administered three times a year: fall (August), winter (December), and spring (April).
We encourage you to review the scores with your child, celebrate their progress, and highlight areas for growth. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the results in more detail, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s ELA or Math teacher.
During our upcoming "Test Talks" with students, they will be asked to reflect on their MAP results and participate in goal-setting. We will be discussing their academic goals and encouraging them to commit to working hard to achieve these goals throughout the school year. We believe that fostering student ownership of their learning is key to their success.
Additionally, students received a presentation before taking the MAP assessment to emphasize the importance of doing their best, as the scores for fall, winter and spring help inform their class placements for the next school year.
Thank you for your continued support in your child’s education.

Parent/Guardian Supervision Required at School Events and Athletic Competitions
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to welcome you and your child to participate in the many extracurricular activities and athletic competitions that Park Middle School offers. These events are a great source of pride for our school and district community, and we value your involvement and support.
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone during these events, we are continuing our practice of requiring that a parent or guardian accompany and supervise their child if they plan to attend as a spectator at any extracurricular or athletic event, whether at home or away.
Please note that this requirement applies only to spectators. Students who are actively participating in a club or athletic team, and are under the supervision of their coaches or sponsors, are not required to have a parent or guardian present. However, for students who are simply attending as spectators, we need a parent or guardian to be present for the duration of the event to ensure proper supervision.
Safety is our top priority, and often, extracurricular events and athletic competitions do not have enough staff available to monitor spectators closely. While club sponsors, coaches, and administrators work to ensure the smooth running of these events, additional supervision is necessary to maintain a safe and family-friendly environment.
We ask that all parents/guardians attending these events be actively engaged in monitoring their child’s behavior to help create a positive, respectful atmosphere. These are school-sponsored events, and we expect everyone in attendance to model appropriate behavior and language to maintain a welcoming experience for all.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all members of our community.

ALL Middle Schools: Creighton University
ALL Middle Schools: Creighton University has an exciting opportunity for our middle school students to explore careers in medicine, develop hands-on clinical skills, and learn about healthcare from real physicians, students, and other medical professionals.
Creighton’s revitalized Mini Medical School program will take place on:
Saturday, September 14, 2024, 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM at their Downtown Phoenix Campus: 3100 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012.
All students must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other adult. Lunch and refreshments will be provided to students and their families. Additionally, adults will have dedicated sessions to cover the resources available for their children to pursue the health sciences, understand the finances associated with higher education, and map out the general pathway to a career in medicine.
The program does come at a cost, though Creighton University does offer full scholarship coverage for students who have a recommendation submitted on their behalf. They can even provide you with the recommendation template if you desire. Here’s the link for more info: Mini Medical School Programs
