Great ShakeOut Earthquake and Evacuation Drill
This Wednesday, October 16th, Oak Hills staff and students will participate in the Great Oregon Shakeout. While this event is normally scheduled for the third Thursday of October, due to a scheduling conflict with middle school conferences, all Beaverton School District schools will participate on Wednesday instead.
Classroom teachers will review emergency protocols for an earthquake event with students in advance. The earthquake drill will be followed by a monthly evacuation (fire) drill. This scenario mirrors what would happen in the event of an earthquake emergency.
Please see the attached document for guidance around how to respond in the event of an earthquake. We would encourage you to make/review your plan for earthquake emergency situations within your household. Thank you for your support of our children as we participate in the Great Oregon Shakeout!

New Club Opportunity
We will be starting a 4 week session of Book Club after school on Tuesdays starting on October 29th for grades 3-5. This will be an opportunity for book lovers to unite, share and discuss their favorite books, and do some activities together. For the first session, please come prepared to share some of your favorite books or series. We will be dividing into small groups (Graphic Novels, Scary/Mystery, Fantasy and Other). Each group will vote on future books to read and share as a group, and share ideas and make plans for the upcoming sessions. We'd like this to be as student-led as possible. Space is limited - please register by completing this form online or paper registration forms will be in the front office. Deadline to register will be October 24th. Of course, we will need volunteers to make this happen - please consider signing up for any or all sessions on Parentsquare. Please contact alinahorrockspto@gmail.com with further questions.
