If your student needs testing accommodations for the SAT and has current testing accommodations for in-class testing, please contact Mrs. Tabor at ktabor@conroeisd.net for the accommodation request paperwork by the end of the day today, February 21, 2025. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Sp9chd2qO5e8mHNIdZtdLay53KNDjpV1MPizvzuTNTk/edit?tab=t.0
*If you do not see courses listed in this section, your student has not yet had their meeting. Meetings will continue to take place now and throughout March.
HOW TO CHANGE COURSES IN COURSE REQUESTS
Once your student has met with their counselor, the courses are “frozen” in the Naviance system. After your student’s meeting with the counselor, changing the courses in Naviance DO NOT change the courses in the system. The only way that a requested course can be changed in the student’s requests for next school year is to make an official request online. Your student will need to complete the form included here or visit the TWHS Grade Level Office to scan a QR Code to make the request. Your counselor will review the course change request and contact your student once it has been changed or why it cannot be changed.
The deadline to make the request to change a course is April 1, 2025.

The “Naviance 4 Year Plans and Pathways” presentation by Mrs. Tabor, you can view it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBRkRkg9cA4. Naviance codes were emailed to parents on Friday, November 1, 2024. If you did not receive your code or cannot log in, please email Mrs. Tabor at ktabor@conroeisd.net.
If you have two children at TWHS, those accounts can be linked. Please email Mrs. Tabor to make the request. If you have a student at McCullough and one at TWHS, those accounts CANNOT be linked until both students are at TWHS.
In the presentation, parents were given the opportunity to ask questions. Here are the FAQs. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kBrWVQGLEh74r8lXgy3sFzqtmUkLWRs4xMWhT__Hzd0/edit?tab=t.0
Dual Credit Important Information
Will your student sign up for Dual Credit Courses for the 25-26 School Year? Here are the steps to becoming a dual credit student, as outlined on the TWHS Dual Credit Website: https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-dual-credit/home . Even if your student has not yet met with their counselor, they can begin to complete the following steps.
Step 1: Are you a new or returning dual credit student?
https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-dual-credit/dc-steps/step-1-new-or-returning
Step 2: If you are a new dual credit student, complete the apply Texas application & set up your Lone Star College account and forward your emails. If you are not new to dual credit, proceed to step 3.
https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-dual-credit/dc-steps/step-2-apply-to-lone-star
Step 3: Do you have qualifying test scores either through SAT (https://www.collegeboard.org/), ACT (https://my.act.org/account/signin?location=https://my.act.org), or the TSIA2? (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeyVV6Xm1q_rkY9fl4N9G-nsKXbZMd6Hha88hunqVKSkJmScA/viewform)
https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-dual-credit/dc-steps/step-3-qualifying-test-scores
Step 4: Submitting the dual credit google form (including uploading your dual credit paperwork and qualifying test scores). This step can not be completed UNTIL the student obtains the qualifying test scores. https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-dual-credit/dc-steps/step-4-submitting-dc-paperwork
The last and final step (https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-dual-credit/dc-steps/step-5-making-payments) will not occur until May. Your student’s counselor will be sending out another email with payment instructions once students have been enrolled in their dual credit courses for the fall by Lone Star College. This typically happens mid May. The deadline to have Steps 1-4 completed is April 11, 2025. We only have a certain number of seats available for several of the dual credit classes, and they are assigned on a first come, first served basis.
SIGN UP FOR THE TSIA2 IN MARCH BY CLICKING HERE: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeyVV6Xm1q_rkY9fl4N9G-nsKXbZMd6Hha88hunqVKSkJmScA/viewform or Scan the QR Code.
Students must sign up by March 7th to take the TSIA2 test on our campus at the end of March. Instructions for completing the pre-assessment can be found here: https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-dual-credit/tsia-2-testing . You may be asked to show your certificate of completion, so be sure to take a screenshot of this. You can use these scores to qualify for Dual Credit. Students taking the TSIA2 test, you
will receive your scores as soon as you complete your test.

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS NEWS
FOREIGN LANGUAGE: TWHS offers a multitude of languages, including German, French, Chinese, and Japanese. As students decide which language to choose, there are a few things to keep in mind. First and foremost, students should make sure that they choose the language and culture that truly interests them. They will be spending a lot of time in their foreign language classroom, and they might as well enjoy it while they learn. Secondly, they should keep their own marketability in mind. Which language will make them stand out to future employers? See below for more information. German, French, Chinese, and Japanese at TWHS
JROTC: We’ve had a fun weekend, with more competitions and events to come! On Saturday, February 15, our Varsity 1 and 2 Drone Teams traveled to Houston for the Urban STEM Drone Competition. Both teams did great—Varsity 2, “Firefox,” made it to the semifinals, and Varsity 1, “The Flying Penguins,” received the Coding Award for the competition. Our Marksmanship Team returned from the Civilian Marksmanship Program Nationals in Anniston, Alabama on Sunday where they placed 19th—great job to all!
This past Monday, our corps had our Paintball trip, where cadets teamed up in a tournament against their fellow cadets and instructors. This week some cadets paid a recruiting visit to McCullough Junior High to answer questions from our future cadets. We’ll be back next week too!
This Saturday we will have our Annual Chili Cook Off and Dessert Bakeoff. Cadets and parents have the opportunity to compete to make the best desserts and chili. This is our Booster Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year, with auctions, raffles, and even the opportunity send your friends to “jail” or douse a cadet officer with ice water!
Next week is full with giving back to the community as well as competition; we have a Campus Cleanup on Wednesday the 26th and are helping with the Mitchell Social on Friday the 28th. Saturday, March 1st, our Raider Team travels to Sam Houston State University for the annual Schuder Ranger Challenge hosted by Army college ROTC, and many of our cadets will Paint the Path Pink at that Mitchell Intermediate community service that morning.
Lots of exciting events are happening for our classes in the coming weeks! Guest speaker and renowned survivalist Dr. Mark “Merriwether” Vorderbruggen visits our junior classes on Monday, March 3rd. Our freshmen will travel to Space Center Houston on Tuesday, March 4th, and our sophomores spend the night on the USS Lexington aircraft carrier in Corpus Christi on March 6th-7th.
Finally, breaking news—our Varsity Joint Leadership Academic Bowl team has advanced to the National Championship which will be held in June in Washington, DC! This is an all-expenses-paid opportunity for the team—good.

CLINIC NOTES
This is a reminder that all medications that are given at school must be signed in to the clinic by a parent or guardian, even if the student is 18 or older. We do not have any stock medications; they all must be provided from home each school year. That includes cough drops, headache medication, antacids, and antibiotic ointment. There is a form in the clinic that you complete to give us permission to administer that medication, then we count and sign off on the medication in front of you. This is a district-wide policy, and is done to maintain the safety of our students and staff.
District guidelines for checking in medications
- Over-the-counter medication dosage must not exceed the dose recommendation listed on the bottle. Exception: If your physician, dentist, or orthodontist has directed a certain dosage to be given that is greater than that recommended on the bottle, a written order will need to be included with the written permission from the parent.
- Medications must be in their original container, and unexpired.
- The use of “sample” medication from the physician, dentist, or orthodontist must have signed written instructions from that doctor accompanied by the parent’s written permission.
- No more than a ninety (90) day supply of a prescription medication may be checked in at one time.
- No more than a thirty (30) day supply of a nonprescription medication, to be used “as needed”, may be checked in at one time. We do not have room to store Costco-sized bottles.
- All prescription and nonprescription medications must be labeled in English.
- All prescription medications must be prescribed by an authorized licensed healthcare provider in Texas. Medications prescribed by authorized licensed healthcare providers in other US states may be accepted for no longer than 45 calendar days.
If your student has an Epi-pen, inhaler, or diabetic supplies prescribed to them, there are forms that need to be signed by a doctor and parent each school year that give them permission to carry and self-administer those medications. Those forms can be found here: https://twhs.conroeisd.net/departments/department-home/clinic/
If you are aware that your student will be going on a field trip and will need to have scheduled medication administered by a staff member, or carry emergency medications while they are on the trip, please contact the clinic for guidance. You can reach Alana Ansley at the Senior Campus at 936-709-1076 or aransley@conroeisd.net, and Erica Falcon at the 9th Grade Campus at 832-592-8209 or efalcon@conroeisd.net. Both nurses are available in the clinic from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days.

DISTRICT NEWS
PARENT ACCESS CENTER TRANSITION TO HOME ACCESS CENTER: Home Access Center (HAC) will go live on January 21 and operate alongside the Parent Access Center (PAC) until Spring Break. (PAC will be decommissioned within the two weeks after March 17). During this transition, parents will have access to both applications. As HAC launches, PAC will notify users that HAC is now online and that student information in HAC will be updated in real-time. To prepare for HAC's replacement of PAC, documentation for parents and staff will be available in the Knowledge Base (https://kb.conroeisd.net) by January 18.
SCHOOL CASH ONLINE: Attention Parents: Please be sure to check your child's School Cash Online account frequently. The website is www.conroeisd.schoolcashonline.com. Fees are added throughout the year for various activities. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the fees charged to your child, please contact the classroom teacher or club sponsor. Failure to pay fees listed as "required" or "overdue" may result in a student not being permitted to participate in some extracurricular activities. If you need assistance logging in to School Cash Online or adding and viewing your child's account, please visit schoolcashonline.com/Home/Support and view the resources available to help.
ABSENT REPORTING APP: In an effort to make things easier for our families, CISD is launching an app to help you report your student's absences to our school when they are out. Documentation such as doctor's notes will still need to be submitted to our campus attendance office, but we are excited about the convenience of this new app. You will access it through the Parent Portal. The directions are included in the link. https://kb.conroeisd.net/kb/absence-reporting-system-app-parent-directions
