Principal's Pen
THANK YOU for another amazing round of parties today. Classrooms were buzzing with laughter and excitement, and I saw so much joy in the faces of our students. Every time we have parties or other parent events I am ASTOUNDED by the support our Ridgeways families provide. Party days can be very stressful for teachers - I had many years where I purchased most of the snacks/treats out of my own pocket and ran my class party without any parent volunteers. It can be a lot - but not at Ridgeway, because our parents take care of us big time! Your support makes a huge impact and it does not go unnoticed.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and break. Enjoy the next 16 days with your kiddos. We will see you all in January!
Misc. Reminders
We encouraged students to bring home their water bottle and all clothing items they had at school. We would suggest you wash all personal items over break. Break can be a good time to wash their backpack as well.
Our first day back from break is January 6.
Unit Notes
Unit A
Thank you to all who helped make our winter party such a success! Unit A teachers are thankful for each of our families and students. We hope that you find time to make many memories with your family. We look forward to seeing you back in 2025! Over the break, please continue to maintain good reading habits by reading 20 minutes a day.
Unit B
- The winter party was a success! Thank you to everyone who volunteered and donated supplies.
- Over break please help your child to remember to complete the winter reading challenge. Second graders should be working on addition and subtraction fluency. Third graders should be working on multiplication fluency.
Unit C
We appreciate all the volunteers and donations for the winter party. Break is a wonderful time to practice fact fluency and improve reading stamina. We wish you and your families a safe and restful break.

Hello Ridgeway Families,
I hope all is well with you. I enjoy seeing the students having fun and learning new skills in class.
Please remember to have your students wear tennis shoes on their PE day so they can participate in activities. Moving and fully participating with Crocs or sandals is extremely challenging.
Unit C will have finished the Fitness Gram assessment. This is a state mandate we provide in PE, and we will have another practice with it and a final assessment at the end of the year. It is to provide feedback for areas needing improvement. The first round is a pre-test to gauge students' health zones. The exercises include a pacer test, sit-and-reach, push-ups, and curl-ups.
Learning objectives in December for all Units:
Before the break, we will conclude our striking and volleying skills, using our hands to strike a ball and implements to hit a ball. Striking includes mini golf, paddle games, volleyball skills, and baseball and softball skills. To ensure everyone is involved and focused, we have incorporated fun activities like balloon volleyball and ballon pickleball. These activities not only make learning enjoyable but also promote active participation.
Learning objectives in January for all Units:
We will start dribbling with our hands unit when we return from break. This includes some basketball aspects but other fun games that promote bouncing a ball, pushing a ball, and dribbling a ball. An example is a version of four square will be played.
I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing winter break. Your support and involvement in your child's PE journey are greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Coach Mason
