Principal's Update

Happy Friday, Vista High School Families!

It's been another wonderful week at Vista High School watching the amazing things our scholars can do. We are looking forward to celebrating the Festival of the Arts in downtown Vista this weekend! Come to the Vista Village Saturday from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM to see our wonderful performers and artists' work!

I would like to extend a special congratulations to those students who have qualified for our special "Spooky Flex Time" activity through having excellent attendance and no tardies!

This week we celebrated several Senior nights for our fall athletics teams! Congratulations to our fall athletes for a wonderful season, even if you have some games left to play! We encourage all of our students to find a way to get connected on campus, whether that's with a sport, a club, the arts, or your favorite class.

Remember Panthers, character counts everywhere and all the time. Great job this week!

Wahupa ETS Program

My name is Donovan Durney, or Mr. Durney to the students, and I’m the College & Career Advisor from Wahupa Educational Services Talent Search (or, simply Wahupa). Wahupa is a FREE preparatory program dedicated to helping high school students design and plan their route to post secondary institutions. Wahupa was initially established to provide support to students from Native American descent, eventually expanding to include all those in need, with a primary focus on first generation and low-income students. We offer a range of workshops, tools and resources to best prepare our students. All 9-12th Graders are welcomed to apply, with priority given to first generation and low-income students!

You can find me located in the College & Career Center on most Wednesdays, with the exception of off-site work meetings and changes in my schedule to be present for site-specific events (ie. iApplied, College Fairs, etc.) Use the QR code on the flyers to sign up today! Additionally, here’s a link to the form, if you prefer: Wahupa Educational Talent Search County 2024 - 2025.

Vista Teen Outreach

MESSAGE FROM VTO CO-PRESIDENTS

Vista Teen Outreach (VTO) has had a remarkable year so far, and as we head into the fourth quarter, we’re busier than ever preparing for our annual holiday basket program. We continue to serve 14 schools and are now collaborating with various community groups to extend our reach. Each month, we support approximately 650 families facing food insecurity, ensuring that students and their families have access to essential resources. In addition to our work with schools and community groups, we’ve had some exciting milestones this year. We successfully hosted our first pickleball tournament fundraiser and provided 200 backpacks filled with school supplies through our Back-to-School Backpack project. We’re also proud to participate in the Feeding San Diego retail rescue program, collecting food donations from three retailers on a weekly basis. It truly takes a village to make this all happen.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many volunteers, sponsors, and donors who help us achieve our mission of supporting local families. Your dedication and generosity enable us to continue making a meaningful difference in our community.

Warmly,
Becky Kwock and Jason Tinling
Co-Presidents
