BUILDING HIGHLIGHTS
Wayne High School
Cultivating Connections at the Supper Club
Select Wayne High School students recently had the opportunity to connect with community mentors over a meal at the recent Supper Club event. This worthwhile event is new to Wayne and allows students a chance to practice their social skills when interacting with adults, as well as an opportunity to network and form ongoing relationships with members of our community.
The high school plans to host quarterly Supper Club events next year, with a new group of students and community members at each event. Students are nominated by their teachers based on their leadership qualities. The club also serves to increase engagement with our community members and creates opportunities for adults to get more actively involved within our district.
Wayne Tech Students Shine Bright
Our CTE Wayne Tech teams returned from the recent Sinclair TechPrep showcase with a string of impressive awards. Gavin Cox/Kory Reigle/Cody Baker/Jacob Schafer and Sarah Riley-Thornton/Hannah Perry/Avery Heil claimed first-place awards for their teams in engineering. Elijah Brooks/Jaxson Edding stood out in the interactive multimedia category, securing the champion title. In biomedical, MA’KYLA Vest/Daniela Avila-Rangel, Marina Dilbeck/Taylor Adkins, and Lexi Thornton/Bri Carre also took home first-place trophies. Additionally, Lauren Gregg/Ziya Patel/Payton Miller and Landon Wonders/Destiny Ferguson displayed their skills and earned second-place honors.
Check out these projects and more during the Wayne Tech Senior Symposium on Tuesday, May 7, from 6-7:30 p.m., in the Wayne High School Cafe. During the event, you can view live demonstrations, learn about the Wayne Tech Prep programs, congratulate our award winners, and celebrate our PLTW seniors.
April Students of the Month
Each month, students at Wayne are nominated through a rotation of departments. This recognition was initiated by the building's PBIS committee. Recognizing students for doing the right thing every day is crucial to fostering a healthy school climate. Shoutout to these students who define what it means to be a Warrior!

Charles Huber Elementary School
Inspiring Imaginations Through Reading and Exploration at Charles Huber
The second-grade students at Charles Huber have been using their love of books to expand their imaginations and create opportunities for new adventures. They recently immersed themselves in the story of Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. The book series features a boy named Stanley, who was accidentally flattened when a bulletin board fell on him while asleep in his bed. The children enjoyed reading about Stanley’s fun adventures and even created more adventures for him to go on over Spring Break.
These students also celebrated Read Across America week by engaging with guest readers, including the family members of our dedicated teaching staff, and participating in Literacy Night, where they had the opportunity to interact with Huber Heights Police Division’s own Officer Lambert, author of the children’s book “A Fun Week at the Police Department.”
Finally, our second graders had a blast during a recent field trip to Aullwood, where they participated in the Birds of Prey program. The students engaged in hands-on exploration by dissecting owl pellets and learned about Ohio's hawks and owls and the importance of these predators in our ecosystems.

Congrats, Hailey!
Monticello students also radiated with excitement during the recent inaugural PBIS Glow Party! Using glow sticks, black-light temporary tattoos, and face paint, these students lit up the gym as they danced with friends during the school day. A great time was had by all!

Valley Forge Students Enjoy Farm Life
Earlier this year, Valley Forge second graders had an opportunity to connect their lessons on farm life, habitats, and plants to real life during a fun-filled trip to Learning Tree Farm. Students learned about various livestock animals, gardens, and herbs. They also went hiking and even got to take home a pumpkin!
In addition, students in Mrs. Anderson’s and Ms. Spradlin’s classrooms recently got to assist with hatching eggs donated by Happy Wife Farms. The students enjoyed tracking the chicken’s development inside the eggs and used candling to see the chicks moving inside the shell. Once hatched, the baby chicks spent a week in the classroom, where the students created birth certificates, practiced gentle holding, and sang and read to the beloved birds before returning them to Happy Wife Farms.
