The Owl Observer
Week of October 14
Week #17, Week of November 25th
Dear Students and Families,
Happy Week #17 WYWLA Families! Important notes are below!
Please remember that there will be no school for students on November 27th through November 29th.
As we approach the season of Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible partnership and support you provide every day. Together, we create a nurturing environment where our students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. It truly takes a village, and I am thankful for each one of you who plays a vital role in shaping the lives of our OWLs.
I am deeply inspired by the way our families and community work hand in hand with our school. Whether it’s volunteering your time, cheering on our students during their accomplishments, or offering words of encouragement, your contributions make a difference. Your dedication reinforces the values of hard work, resilience, and kindness that we strive to instill in our students.
This Thanksgiving, I encourage us all to reflect on the blessings in our lives and to continue fostering a culture of gratitude and generosity. Let’s celebrate the strength of our community and the boundless potential of our students.
On behalf of the entire school staff, I wish you and your family a warm and joyous Thanksgiving filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Thank you for entrusting us with the opportunity to guide and support your children. We are truly grateful to serve such a remarkable community.
With Appreciation & Gratitude,
Mariah Walker,
Principal

A special congratulations to Samanvi, whose entry has advanced to the countywide competition! We are so proud of both of these talented students for their creativity and hard work. 🎉
Looking ahead, the 2025-2026 Reflections theme is: I Belong. This inspiring theme encourages students to reflect on their sense of connection and belonging, expressing these ideas through creative mediums. Stay tuned for details on how to participate in the next contest!

Say Something Anonymous Reporting
North Carolina requires all schools to provide a secure tip line for students to report safety concerns when they’re unable to reach a trusted adult. This tool is designed to support, not replace, open communication with safe adults and is part of a broader effort to ensure student well-being. Throughout November, students will receive training on how to use this tool, which includes a brief overview, a video, and a guide on its use. Parents are encouraged to visit the program’s website to learn more about this national platform and to have conversations with their students about the importance of sharing concerns with trusted adults.
Parents should review link below for general information and program notes. Please send any questions to Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Greene Flowers, Mrs. Little, or Mrs. Whitehead.
