Dragons of the Month for March
No School March 7-14
There is no school this Friday and all next week (March 7-14) due to Spring Break. See you March 17!
Picture Day Tomorrow 3/6
Tomorrow (Thursday March 6) is Spring Picture Day! If you would like spring pictures, please make sure your student is prepared!
Operation School Bell Clothing Giveaways
Dr. Celaya will be facilitating clothing giveaways, on campus, on select days and times for families that were not able to use their Operation School Bell vouchers for clothing from Target in the fall. We have shoes, jackets, and other items on site to give away! There may be possibilities for families that were able to use their vouchers to get additional clothing as well. The first of these days will be on Grading Day, this Friday, March 7, between 10:30 am and 12:00 pm. Please email Dr. Celaya as an RSVP to let him know if you plan to attend.
Upcoming State Testing
State Testing starts right after Spring Break. Please make every effort to have your student at school on time on these dates, and schedule any appointments outside of these times if at all possible. Once a student begins a test, they must finish it that same school day, so if they are picked up in the middle of the test, their test will be scored as if they had skipped the questions.
The following are the testing dates:
- 5th Grade - AzSci State Science Test: Thursday, March 20
- 8th Grade - AzSci State Science Test: Thursday, March 27
- 3rd-8th Grade - AASA State Writing Test: Tuesday, April 1
- 3rd Grade - AASA State Oral Reading Fluency Test: Thursday, April 3
- 3rd-8th Grade - AASA State ELA Test Part 1: Tuesday, April 8
- 3rd-8th Grade - AASA State Math Test Part 1: Thursday, April 10
- 3rd-8th Grade - AASA State ELA Test Part 2: Tuesday, April 15
- 4th-7th Grade and Ms. Carreon & Ms. Busby's 3rd Grade - AASA State Math Test Part 2: Thursday, April 17
- 8th Grade and Ms. Laub, Ms. Romero, and Ms. Nye's 3rd Grade - AASA State Math Test Part 2: Tuesday, April 22

Save the Date for Spring Music Performances
Save the date for our music performances coming up this spring! On Tuesday, April 29, kindergarten through 3rd grade will have their spring performance, and on Tuesday May 13, Guitar and Orchestra will be performing. Stay tuned for more details!
Mariachi Los Dragoncitos Spring Concert
Join us for the Mariachi Los Dragoncitos Spring Concert on Sunday, April 6 at the KC Club, 601 S. Tucson Blvd. Doors open at 3:00pm and the performance starts at 3:30pm. Tickets are $7, and tickets purchased in advance are discounted to $5. There will be performances by Mariachi Los Dragoncitos and by Mariachi Rayos Del Sol de Tucson High. Your ticket price includes a spaghetti dinner (including salad and a bread roll), and beverages are available for purchase from the venue.
Hope to see you there!
3rd-5th Grade Track and Field
Coach Forster (aka Coach Wolverine) will hold practices this week for 45 minutes after elementary dismissal from Monday - Thursday. The regional meet will be on March 18th at Pueblo High School from approximately 9:00 - 1:00. A bus and lunches will be provided. All sports physicals for participants are due to the front office by March 7th!
Middle School Track and Field
Great News! There is a 99% chance that we have found a Middle School Track and Field Coach! Now, we need to know if your middle school child is interested in participating track and field during the fourth quarter.
The events they can try out for include the following:
- 100 Meter Dash
- 200 Meter Dash
- 800 Meter Run
- 1600 Meter Run
- 4x100 Relay (if we have enough students)
- 4x 400 Relay (if we have enough students)
- Shot Put
- Long Jump
- High Jump
The team will have their regular season meets after school, approximately once a week, from April 1st to April 18th. Students who perform well during the regular season meets will be invited to a Divisional Meet one day after school between April 29th and May 2nd. Students that do well at the Divisional Meet will be invited to the District Championship Meet on Saturday, May 10th. On days when there are not meets, during the fourth quarter, and with the exception of Wednesdays, the coach would like to hold optional after school practices from 3:30 – 4:30. TUSD Busses will be provided to take students to and from the meets, and parents will also be able to transport students on their own.
A sports physical for this school year will be required for each student if one has not already been submitted and there will be a $30 participation fee. For now, all I need to know is if your child is interested. Please Reply/RSVP to Dr. Celaya via email by March 6th to let him know if your child is interested. Drachman Score! Dragons Roar!
Soccer Shots for 4th Quarter
Reminder: SNAP Health Center Information
Over the next few months, the Drachman Health Office will transition to using SNAP Health Center for communication with parents. As a result, most email communications will now come from SNAP Health Center.
Please note the following important information:
- The first time an email is sent from SNAP, you will receive a message with a password.
- Please save your password – it will only be sent once.
- This password will be used for all future messages from SNAP.
We recommend saving the password in a secure location to ensure you can access all future communications. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Health Office. Thank you for your cooperation.
Reminder: Important Medication Policy for Parents
For the safety and well-being of all students, we kindly remind parents that students are not allowed to carry medication on campus. There are few exceptions to this rule. If your child needs to take medication during school hours, please visit the school health office to complete a medication permission form. The medication will then be securely stored in the health office for your child's use.
If you have any questions or need more information, don't hesitate to contact the health office. Thank you for your cooperation!
Reminder: Parents & Partners on Patrol
We are launching a new program to increase the number of adults on campus to supervise students before school, after school, and during recesses called Parents & Partners on Patrol. Participants in the program will be approved Drachman Volunteers who will receive training from TUSD School Safety and Drachman Administration on how to properly monitor students across various campus spaces, and their support will increase the adult supervision on campus and overall campus safety. If you are interested in becoming a Parent/Partner on Patrol, please email Dr. Celaya for more information.
Reminder: Yearbooks on Sale
Yearbooks for this school year are currently on sale for $13 each. The last day to order is April 17. (Please note that yearbooks must be pre-ordered!)
You can purchase the yearbook on the TUSD Payment Portal, with your student’s ID number as the user name (this can be found on ParentVue), and the student’s last name as the password. If you have any questions, please email Ms. Amanda Laub, who is coordinating the yearbook.
Reminder: Register for Next Year!
Online registration for the next school year is now available! Please register NOW for next school year to help Drachman get maximum funding and keep all current teaching and staff positions! We need all returning students/families in grades Kindergarten through 7th grade to do this as soon as possible! It’s easy: just open your ParentVUE account and follow the registration steps. Also, please let us know if you have a child who will enter kindergarten at Drachman next year!
