The Monday Minute

We hope everyone is continuing to enjoy their Summer! Please read this special August Edition of the Monday Minute carefully as there is a lot of important information. To highlight a few items of note:

• LVMS Sports Physical Information: Sports Physicals for ANY student interested in participating in Fall Sports at LVMS are due on Friday, August 16th. Submissions after 8/16 cannot be accepted.
• 6th Grade / New Student Immunization Information: As per the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) Chapter 14 N.J.A.C.8:57-4, all incoming 6th grade and new students must submit up-to-date immunization / medical records to Mrs. Hade, our school nurse, by their 11th birthday. All students are required to provide proof of Tdap Vaccination and Meningococcal Vaccine by their 11th birthday. Students who have not yet reached their 11th birthday will have a two-week grace period from their birthday to provide these records. Failure to submit these immunization forms or records will result in your students house and homeroom placement information being unavailable in August and may delay their start at LVMS. • 6th Grade Student Summer Orientation: The annual incoming 6th Grade Student Orientation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20th. The event is organized into two (2) sessions (each student should only plan to attend one (1) session. Please CLICK HERE to RSVP for the event. More information is included below.

In the last week of August, look for our Back to School Edition of the Monday Minute which will include information about Student Schedules, Parent Drop Off / Pick Up procedures, Student Handbooks, etc.

We are happy to offer Summer Learning Opportunities for students to choose to explore if they wish. These are OPTIONAL activities that are meant to build upon previous learning. These opportunities differ from summer "work" as they are NOT mandatory.

As a reminder, if you are looking for additional reading opportunities, please visit our Washington Township Public Library. The WTPL has a variety of learning opportunities, events, and reading lists for all of our Washington Township students.

The following supplies are recommended / suggested for all LVMS students. Teachers will share class specific material requests with students upon the start of classes (these requests will be minimal). Therefore it may be best to wait to buy supplies once classes begin. All students should plan to come to school on the first day with their charged Chromebook (new students will be issued Chromebooks in the first week of school)

It is recommended that students put their name on all items and replenish as needed.

Mark Your Calendars!

All LVMS Students will have TWO opportunities to visit LVMS before the first day of school. The purpose of these visits are for students to see where their homeroom is located and become acclimated to a new part of the building.

Due to building prep work and other various projects, LVMS is NOT available to student visits at other dates / times.

The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) under Chapter 14 N.J.A.C. 8:57-4 mandates the following two vaccines:

Info: All incoming 6th graders are invited to join us for a summer Walk-Through and Tour Scavenger Hunt! Students will get to meet counselors, administrators, and experience what LVMS is like.

**Please be aware, this is a student orientation event that is in addition to what was already covered with parents in June 2024. This has been designed to get students into the building to feel welcome and adjusted to LVMS**

On the first day of school, it is expected that all students will arrive at LVMS with their fully charged Chromebook. If your student is experiencing technical difficulties with their device please email helpdesk@wtschools.org. 6-8 students that are brand new to the district will receive their school issued device in the first week of the school year. Please see the Chromebook reminders below from our WTS Tech Team.

Updated paperwork for Fall Sports has been released! All information will be emailed to 6th and 7th grade families directly. Included are the sports available for the Fall Season.
