Welcoming Back our IAE Students!
Global Leadership Students
Twenty-four Troy High Colts attended the Global Leadership Summit in Berlin, Germany this summer. The students, selected on leadership and outstanding character, traveled to the French Riviera, Switzerland, and Berlin, exploring The Impact of Water on Society to better understand water’s influence on transportation, agriculture, energy, and more.
The students went sightseeing in Monaco, took a gondola ride up to the Swiss Alps, went on a boat in Lake Lucerne, saw the Berlin Wall, and visited the Brandenburg Gate. They went to a perfume factory and created their own perfume scent, visited a denim manufacturer, and learned about the blue jean production related to water pollution, which empowered behavioral change in fashion.
Bringing their new knowledge and leadership, they joined 1,100 kids from around the world who were studying water’s impact in other European countries. During the summit, students were placed in teams and were charged with solving a global problem related to the theme of water; using design thinking, they ideated and created a prototype to solve their problem. After presenting a one-minute pitch to the judges of their prototype, a winning team was selected by a panel of judges. Students also attended creative workshops and speaker sessions designed to inspire solutions for world issues surrounding water.
What a wonderful learning opportunity for these Troy Colt students to become global leaders and thinkers!
