Our abbreviated week was filled with excitement here at Walnut Avenue School! Thank you to our PTA for supporting our End of Year Celebrations this week! We also welcomed our new Preschool and Kindergarten WAS families for the 2025-2026 school year this week :)
Remember that next Wednesday and Thursday are Single Session Days (see information in newsletter) at WAS and it is our final week of the 2024-2025 school year!

Medication Pick-Up
If your child has medication in the health office, they need to be picked up in the nurseโs office by a parent/guardian with an ID during the following dates and times:
June 18th - 8:30am-12:00pm
June 19th - 8:30am-12:00pm
If these times do not work, please reach out to the Nurse Stein to schedule a time that does work for you and your family. Medication that is not picked up will be discarded at the end of the day on 6/19/25.
Staff Parking Lot
Families are to use the Denman Parking Lot and/or Lenhome Drive for arrival/dismissal. If you are parking and walking your student to the doors, please refrain from using the Staff Parking Lot. Dismissal parking is again in the Denman Parking Lot and/or Lenhome Drive.
Please reach out if you have extenuating circumstances and need access to the Staff Parking Lot for arrival/dismissal.
Late Arrival & Early Pick-Up
Families arriving late to school and/or picking up a student early are asked to use the Staff Parking Lot for the late arrival and early pick up.
Please do not stop on the driveway and leave your car on the driveway when you are signing your student in or out for the school day.
Thank you for keeping the driveway clear of parked cars.

Please call 908-709-6995 to report an absence.
If you have a change in dismissal on a given day, please be sure to include Nurse Stein, Ms. McNulty and Ms. McNally on your email to the teacher so we can be sure that the email was seen by the teacher.
If an aftercare program needs to be notified of the change, please be sure to reach out to the aftercare to notify them of the change in dismissal.

As we approach the end of the school year, Pomptonian is excited to share the final edition of the Nutrition News series for the year: Berry Good For You โ a farm tour spotlighting delicious and nutritious New Jersey strawberries!
The local strawberry season typically begins after Motherโs Day, and this video celebrates the start of one of our favorite harvests.

There are many resources available for students and parents on this site, including links to programming at the Cranford Public Library. Book titles are listed by both grade level and independent/guided reading level. Please encourage students to engage in summer reading!
