Dublin High School
Week of August 6, 2023
A Note From Dr. Overstreet...
Amazing! That’s the feeling of the faculty and staff about the first two days of this new school year. We are so proud of our students for returning to school with a renewed sense of focus and excitement to begin this journey with me, their new principal. If the first two days of school are an indication for this school year, we are going to have a great year! Our focus this year is “High Achievement and Success for all Students."
The school’s Continuous School Improvement Plan will embrace the instructional framework and lead us to ensure success for all students. I am super excited about the instructional programs this year. For example, The WAY, Workforce Accelerating Youth, is the new College and Career Academy at Dublin High School. We have also assembled the school's Advanced Content courses onto one hallway now known as the Irish Honor's Academy to showcase our more rigorous instructional programs like IB (International Baccalaureate), Advanced Placement, Gifted Honors, and Dual Enrollment. Increased Learning Time, better known as ILT is a twenty eight-minute block of time embedded in the bell schedule to provide students with remediation, acceleration, and enrichment during the school day.
In addition to the instructional programs, we have added additional safety measures to increase the safety of our campus. The dress code remains the same. However, there is a new cell phone policy in place to protect the instructional day, and to keep students focused on instruction. The new cell phone policy can be found in the school's student handbook that is posted on the school's website.
There is so much more to share with you each week about Dublin High School's Instructional Focus, the Continuous School Improvement Plan, and our extra-curricular and athletic programs. I will update you weekly on our progress as we take this journey together into the new school year.
In the words of our Superintendent, Dr. Fred Williams, "I love you, and there is nothing you can do about it!"
Don't Stop Believing!
Michael Overstreet
