December 2024
Dear Families of East School,
As we approach the holiday season, it’s hard to believe how quickly time has passed this year. It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming our students back for a new school year, and now we find ourselves in a season of celebration and reflection.
During this wonderful time of year, we are reminded of the many blessings we share as a community. We are incredibly thankful for the remarkable students who inspire us every day with their curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning. Likewise, we deeply appreciate the unwavering support and involvement of our families, which play a crucial role in making East School such a special place.
As we move into the second half of the school year, we are eager to continue working closely with your children and to assist them in reaching their full potential. We have exciting projects and activities planned, and we are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for every student.
We wish you all a joyous and blessed holiday season filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with family and friends. Thank you for being an essential part of our East School community.
Happy Holidays!
Mr. Zesiger
Principal

All found items are collected and placed in the Lost and Found bin located in the lobby area. To ensure the speedy return of your child's belongings, please label them. However, if your child has lost something this school year, it's important to check the bin as soon as possible.

Birthday Treats
Bringing treats for classmates on your birthday is a common practice in many schools. This practice is voluntary, and participation is optional. Normally treats are brought on the child’s birthday or the day that school is in session close to the child’s birthday. Parents are asked to notify the teacher at least one day prior to bringing treats.
Guidelines for Treats:
- Treats must be store-bought and individually wrapped.
- Students should bring enough treats so that each student in the class and the teacher receives a treat.
- Treats will be distributed as directed by the classroom teacher.
Counselor Resource Bags
Our elementary school counselors are providing a new service for families this school year. Counselor resource bags are available for students and their families to “check out” in times of need, such as the loss of a loved one, family changes, family illness, and the loss of a pet. These bags include social-emotional resources and activities to help students process their grief or big emotions with the support of their family members. Having counselor resource bags available is a strategy to close the gap between home and school in terms of the emotional support of our students. If you have any questions about the counselor resource bags, please contact Mrs. Keck (keckc@dovertornadoes.com).
Change of Transportation
If there are any changes in your child's end-of-the-school day transportation procedures, please be sure to send a note to your child's teacher. If the teacher does not receive a note from you, your child will be sent home using their normal routine. Please do not send transportation changes through email or ClassDojo, as it may not be received in a timely manner. You are encouraged to call the school office with any last-minute changes by 2:30 pm.

East PTG
Be a part of the group!
One of the biggest assets of our school is the PTG. Services such as volunteering time, helping with programs, and providing financial assistance for equipment and activities are vital functions of the PTG and are greatly appreciated by our school community.
The PTG spends money on student incentives and building items for the betterment of the school. We encourage parent involvement with our school and PTG.
