Tuesday Times
Havelock North Primary School - 8th March 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
New Students
This week we welcome Yvanri and Kale to HNP. Well done on making such a positive start to school kids.
Learning Conferences
Unfortunately this year, due to the red setting and the fact that we are nearing the height of the pandemic, learning conferences will be online. These will take place next Wednesday and Thursday and you can book your 10 minute timeslot on https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/
The booking code is st5tf
We are just finalising the online codes and these bookings will be open on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Stygall is currently away on paternity leave so his conferences will be in week 8, along with Mrs Te Whaiti, Mrs Allen and Mrs Baker. A separate booking schedule will come out for these four teachers next week.
Teacher Only Day
A reminder that Friday 18th March is a Teacher Only day. All Kahui Schools will be working virtually together on this day looking three work streams; cultural capability, structured literacy and trauma informed practice.
Covid 19
We currently have three staff away either isolating or with Covid 19. Hopefully in the next week or so we will be seeing a the peak. Covid is certainly bubbling away in the community and it will be great to see the back of this current outbreak and get a bit of normality into the school setting again.
If your child is well they can still continue to come to school.
What you need to do:
You and your whānau should watch for symptoms. Please keep symptomatic children at home
If any develop, get tested immediately
Then, stay at home until you receive the result

Enviro Corner - Term 1 Week 6
Manakitanga is a guiding principle of Enviroschools.
Manakitanga means to extend aroha (love and compassion) to others. It is found in acts such as helping a loved one, encouraging one another or even supporting a complete stranger. Manaakitanga is an important value as it secures strength of whānau and community.
The Manakitanga shown from our school community in supporting the Garden to Table, Year 3 and 4 Discovery project has been overwhelming.
8 Fruit bins generously donated by Annette and transported by Steve.
Mr Gray cut, positioned and crafted the garden beds and surrounding area
The O’Sullivan family donated and transported soil.
The Webster family are donating limestone for the surrounding pathway.
Pete is transporting the limestone for us.
Bunnings - sponsored our initial garden supplies.
We received a very generous anonymous donation from an HNP family
Home and School support.
The children are so excited about filling the garden beds with soil tomorrow.
Thank you to our wonderful community for making this project possible. Our children are certainly the winners!
