Barrington Area Rotary hosted an art contest "Celebrating Our Differences" opened to all Barrington 220 students, and we are thrilled to announce that our own Gracie Shoemaker's art took 1st place in the contest! Gracie will be awarded $100 at the awards ceremony on Friday, December 13 at 5:30pm in the BHS art gallery. The award-winning artwork will be placed in the BHS art gallery for the month of December, including during Winterfest- December 13 & 14. Congratulations, Gracie!

We are thrilled to share that we will once again be providing Thanksgiving dinner boxes for all Sunny Hill families. Each family is eligible to receive one dinner box, which will be available for pick-up during the following times:

• Monday, November 25th:

  10:00 AM - 3:15 PM

• Tuesday, November 26th:

  7:30 AM - 3:15 PM

Pick-up will take place at Sunny Hill in the main office.

Please meet our new Principal's Advisory. This group had their first meeting with Principal Bradburn this year, and will be sharing insights with him from students' perspectives. These representatives are from 3rd-5th grades. 3rd Grade: Melanie Jimenez, Jasimine Malcom. 4th Grade: Aubri Black and Stephanie Ruiz. 5th Grade: Angel Teran and Leah Diaz

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), type 2 diabetes in kids and teens is a serious and growing problem in the United States. Recent studies predict that rates of type 2 diabetes in kids and teens will increase over the next 40 years. Many people know that the risk of type 2 diabetes increases with older age. But not many know it can develop at any age. Childhood overweight and obesity are also on the rise, which increases the risk of type 2 diabetes.

As winter approaches, the weather tends to get colder. If your child needs a winter coat, Barrington Giving Day is offering an early access event primarily to get free winter gear. Please send an email to dori@barringtongivingday.org if you would like to sign up to attend or call me directly.

- Barrington Youth & Family Services (BYFS) continues to partner with the District to offer support to our families. With that being said, we will be having our “Cacecito con la Consejera” on Wednesday, December 4th from 10:00-11:00 AM. During this session, you will have the opportunity to meet other parents, chat with the BYFS counselor, and enjoy a cup of coffee. The focus of the session will be social media from 10:00-11:00 AM.
