Jaguar Families,
I hope you've enjoyed some time with family while Jaguar students were home the last week. It's time to go back to school. Monday, December 2nd will be a minimum day for staff professional development. Dismissal for students is at 12:33 PM. Also, Monday 12/2, the library will be open until 1:00 pm to TJMS students due to the minimum day schedule.
We only have 15 school days left in the 2nd quarter and then the school year is half over! We have a Toby Tuesday at Habit Burger 12/3, an opportunity for listening sessions on 12/3, Student of the Month 12/5, two band concerts on 12/10 and 12/17, wrestling and basketball continuing, a focus on being RESPONSIBLE, an opportunity for students to sign up for a "Thriving in Middle School" group, and two minimum days to end the term on 12/19 and 12/20.

TJMS COMMUNITY LISTENING SESSION

LOCATION: TJMS Gym
PURPOSE:
To hear from the Toby Johnson parents/guardians regarding positive school experiences, opportunities for growth and collective commitments to strengthen collaboration between home and school. We look forward to hearing from our community to make sure Toby Johnson continues to be the best place for students to thrive.
*Limit 100 participants. Additional events will be provided if more are needed.

I’m offering students a new support group for students starting in January, details below:
Thriving in Middle School Group
In this 8-week group, we will be addressing:
Stress about middle school life
Relationship challenges
Understanding and managing our emotions
Practicing self-care for the mind and heart
Weekly sessions of 40 minutes (during Advo). No more than 10 students.
Open to 7th and 8th grade students.
If your student could benefit from participating in this group, please have the STUDENT complete the interest form linked in the student’s Synergy email by Wednesday December 11.

TOBY TUESDAY 12/3
Save the date, The first Tuesday of every month is Toby Tuesday (our dine-out day)! Help support Toby by dining at Habit Burger anytime between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Remember to tell them you are with Toby and we will get 20% of the profits. Bring your receipt to MC6 the next day at lunch for a prize! STUDENT OF THE MONTH
November Student of the Month is Thursday 12/5. Invites & certificates will be given to students by Wednesday 12/4. This month’s treat is Cinnabon.
PBIS FOCUS:
Our theme for November is RESPONSIBLE. We challenge your student to limit time on their electronic devices and help at the house or volunteer in their community.
JAG SWAG PULL
This week we will have a Jag Swag Pull for MAJOR PRIZES! Students who win the MAJOR PRIZE pull will get to choose between
Giant Couch Lunch: Pizza & Soda lunch for you and 5 friends on the giant inflatable couch
Pacman Lunch: Pizza & Soda lunch for you and 5 friends in MC6 while you play PacMan Arcade Games
Garden Lunch: Lunch in the garden for you and 5 friends (Bring your own lunch, we will provide dessert!)
Lunch with an Admin or Office Staff: Door- Dashed Lunch in the office with a staff member who works in either office.

Exciting opportunities await young athletes! Boys in grades 3 through 8 are invited to join the Valley Vikings for a dynamic program where they can learn fundamentals, concepts, and compete in games while being coached by the Valley Vikings student-athletes and coaching staff. This camp will be held on Saturdays. Parents are encouraged to register their children or help promote the camp to other students. Registration is currently open. Varsity Tutors for Schools
Elk Grove Unified is pleased to announce an exciting partnership with Varsity Tutors for Schools, a leading platform for live online tutoring at no cost to EGUSD students and families. When students need help with homework or are struggling to solve a problem, they can immediately chat with a tutor, 24/7, to get the help they need. Students can take practice tests and follow personal lesson plans for guided self-study. They can also sign up for expert-led live classes, and learn subjects like geometry, middle school math, elementary school reading and more, alongside their peers. The Varsity Tutors for School platform is now visible in the EGUSD student portal.

EGUSD will continue to host bi-monthly food distribution events through the summer and fall of 2024. Please note in July and August there will be one event. These events are held at Calvine High School (8333 Vintage Park Dr.) from 3:45 to 5:15 pm.
