DMS Principal's Corner
November 1, 2023
Dear Middle School Families,
As we transition into the brisk month of November, I am pleased to bring you the latest updates and highlights from our vibrant learning community.
1. Progress Reports:
A reminder that progress reports will be mailed on Friday, November 10. This is a valuable opportunity for you to connect with your child's teachers, discuss their progress, and collaborate on strategies for success. Your involvement is crucial in fostering a supportive academic environment.
2. Thanksgiving Celebration:
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we take a moment to reflect on the things we are grateful for. One of the things I am grateful for is a school community that values education and supports educators in their endeavors to provide a safe and advancing learning environment. We will be out of school for Thanksgiving Break the week of November 20 - 24.
3. Community Outreach:
Dewey Middle School is committed to giving back to the community. This month, we will be completing our canned food drive which supports the Salvation Army. We believe in instilling a sense of responsibility and compassion in our students.
4. Winter Preparedness:
As the weather turns colder, please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the season. The building is not open before 7:30 AM. Students also travel between buildings during the day and should be prepared for changing weather conditions. Additionally, familiarize yourself with our school's winter weather policies, including any potential delays or closures. The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities.
Thank you for your continued support in making Dewey Middle School a thriving hub of learning and personal growth. We are excited about the upcoming opportunities and look forward to a successful month of November.
Warm regards,
Lauri Wilson
Principal
