Ask Your Child(ren) About...
Our "Brightest Work" Display
We're excited to announce a new whole-school display outside of our Main Office; a vibrant space where our students can showcase their "BRIGHTEST" work!
This initiative encourages our students to self-select pieces of their work that resonate with them and that they are truly proud of; allowing for personal reflection on their learning journey. We believe that celebrating individual achievements fosters confidence and a sense of belonging in our school community.
Here are some questions to ask your child(ren) to spark meaningful conversation about this display, or to encourage them to submit their own work:
If they've already submitted a piece of work:
- What piece of work did you choose to display, and why is it important to you?
- How did you feel while creating this work?
- What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?
- Can you share something you learned while working on this assignment?
- How does this work represent your unique interests or strengths?
If they need some encouragement to submit a piece of work:
- What project or piece of work are you most proud of, and why?
- Is there something you’ve created recently that you’d like to display? What makes it special to you?
- How did you feel while working as a [reader, writer, mathematician, scientist]? Can you describe that experience?
- If you could choose any work to represent you, what would it be, and why?
We hope this new bulletin board inspires both pride in individual accomplishments and a deeper connection between our students and larger community.
2024-25 PTO Family Directory
Below you'll find the 2024-25 PTO Family Directory. This resource is a fabulous way to connect with the students and families in your child(ren)'s class. This is your one-stop shop for scheduling playdates, sharing birthday party invites, etc.
If you missed the submission window for this first version, no worries! The Google Form will reopen in January 2025 for new submissions.
A HUGE thank you to Erica Boulay for putting the directory together!
National Wreaths Across America Day is a movement to cover all U.S. Veterans' grave markers with a winter holiday wreath. The observance is designated annually by Congress on a Saturday in December.
Each year, Eli Terry raises money to donate to the SW American Legion Post 133 to purchase wreaths for local Veterans' grave stones. We do this through a special "PJ/Stuffy" day where students bring in at least 1.00 to wear their PJ's and bring in their favorite stuffy. Last year we made over $1,000 and were able to purchase 65 wreaths!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS! This year's fundraiser will take place on Thursday, November 7th!
A Peek Inside Our Week
Mrs. Harris's class enjoyed their "surprise" therapy dog visit! They didn't just have 1 dog visit, but 3!
Fall recess is the best!
Our Student Ambassadors had the privilege of a guest speaker joining their last meeting. Tommy Glinski, a junior at Rockville High, joined the team to talk about how he started Socktober in this area when he was in 3rd grade and is still joining strong! He's collected over 20,000 pairs of socks and underwear -- we can't wait to help add to his total!
Some of this week's "Lunch with a Local Hero" and "Pumpkin Painting Party" PAWS raffle winners! Mr. Kenyon even joined the pumpkin painting fun!
Some of Mrs. Hooley's amazing readers!
1st grade mathematicians hard at work practicing their forward counting sequence!
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Williamson's class found a praying mantis on their nature walk!
Students LOVED visiting the book fair this week, especially if they won the $50 PAWS raffle shopping spree, and shopping for new titles to add to their "to be read" collection. It even got a little "wild" with axolotls, bearded dragons, and therapy dogs visiting!
Ms. Katie is a favorite during Grade 1 lunch!
