Week of May 19, 2024
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Greetings Davenport Families,
As we welcome summer and all the joy it brings, we're excited about the end-of-year festivities, field trips, and fun activities ahead. Thank you for your continued support and involvement.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Happy Memorial Day!

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Computer Creativity
Mr. Cohen's 2nd and 3rd grade students had a lot of fun in their computer classes! They focused on "Stop Motion" (also known as 'stop frame animation'), an animated filmmaking technique in which objects are physically manipulated into small increments between individual Google slides/frames so that they appear to exhibit independent motion or change when the series of slides or frames are played back.
Davenport Spring Choir Concert
Our Davenport Spring Choir Concert was held on Wednesday, May 16th at the Fernwood Middle School and featured performances by our Davenport Singers, Davenport Honors Choir and our Davenport Staff Choir. Many thanks to our very talented Elementary Music Teacher, Mrs. Schenck, as well as our staff members and student volunteers who also came to help out!
District Staff and Davenport Alumni joined our students on stage for the last two songs. It was a wonderful night of music! Check out our Davenport Singers Facebook Page for several videos uploaded from the concert!

CLIMATE & CULTURE
Happy Memorial Day
Thanks to Mrs. Blair, Ms. Whoy and Ms. Mauriello's kindergarten students for sharing this awesome video as we head into our Memorial Day weekend!
Forest Friends
The Forest Friends Program from Atlantic Prevention Resources has been visiting our 1st grade classrooms during the month of May. The program uses puppets to teach and reinforce character development skills. This week, students discussed and learned more about respect and kindness.
Magical Sounds
Primary Music Teacher, Ms. Cottrell, was a Guest Performer in our Elementary music classes this week highlighting the Woodwinds Family. She brought her flute, piccolo, clarinet and even her Grandfather's saxophone to share with our 2nd and 3rd grade students!
