Counselor's Corner
School Counseling
Hello, my name is Ashley Hult and this my ninth year as Counselor at Banks. Before earning my master’s degree in School Counseling, I taught middle school Language Arts. I was born & raised in Tucson & attended southwest side TUSD schools. After graduating from the U of A in 2009, I taught in Buckeye, Az & lived in Hawaii. I am so proud to support students in my very own neighborhood. I have a 14-year-old daughter who also attended Banks & started high school this year! I absolutely love my community, so seeing students while I’m out walking my dog Maggie makes me so happy! I have the best job in the world and I cannot wait to help our students grow in their personal, social, and academic journeys this year!
As School Counselor & Family-Community Liaison, I am here to support all the wonderful students and families at Banks! All students attend counseling class with me. I also support students through individual and small group counseling. I am available to provide consultation services, family support & resource help, as well as plan 504 coordination, and special events like STEM night and Career Week!
Please consider using your voice as a member of our Family Engagement Team or PTO! If you need support for your child’s social-emotional needs or could use some resources, please reach out to me at any time. We have an emergency food & clothing bank at Banks, but I can also assist you in getting in touch with more resources if needed—We are a Bobcat Family.
To request family or one-on-one counseling, please email me or call 520-908-5762.

School Counseling Lessons
Character Strong Kindness Kickoff & Respect
During the month of August, we will focus on getting to know the Counselor and students will develop an understanding of my role at school and how I can help. They will practice identifying different problems that might arise and sort out the size of the problem. They will learn about problems they can solve on their own and those that need help from an adult.
We will also introduce Restorative Circles. We use Restorative Circles both as a proactive approach to minimizing conflicts and also as a process to restore peace and rectify any harm done after a conflict occurs. Students will begin to develop the social skills necessary for participating in restorative circles. This month, we will focus on developing a sense of belonging.
