Weather Changing (Door Access in the Morning) (New)
Students, Parents, Guardians,
As the weather starts to turn colder, we would like you to know what doors are available to enter in the morning. The main doors are locked and unavailable for entry before 7 am any day. Anyone wanting to enter the building before then should go through the athletic entrance where security is located. After 7 am, the main doors are available for entry. Please use the communication button on the exterior wall at the main entrance and an office staff member can communicate with you. After 7:30 am, the athletic entrance will no longer be available for entry to the school. All students and parents/guardians need to go through the main entrance.
We hope this helps organize drop off and entry points to the school for you. Late in Mondays are the same as the above listed schedule.
Please reach out to the dean's office if you have any questions.
Thank you.

Advanced Placement Students and Families of Lakes Community High School (New)
Taking Advanced Placement (AP) exams is an important part of all AP courses. Lakes Community High School strongly encourages all students enrolled in an AP course to take the exam in May. Scoring well on the AP exam can often earn students college credit, saving a significant amount on tuition. Specific information about exam dates, course credit, and placement information for individual colleges and universities, can be found at www.collegeboard.org.
AP exam registration is currently taking place through the student AP Classroom online account and will close on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
Registration for AP Exams is not complete until payment is submitted through Infinite Campus or by bringing a check made out to Lakes Community High School to Ms. Lisa McIntire in the main office. Fees will appear in Infinite Campus after October 11 and can be paid through November 6. Go to the Parent portal>Fees>Optional Payments> Choose the AP Exam your student is taking>Add to Cart>Make Payment. Exams not paid for by November 7th will be canceled.
Information regarding registration and payment:
Students are automatically registered for their AP Exams in AP Classroom. If a student does not wish to take an AP exam, they must notify their teacher so we can remove the student from the exam roster.
Students and families requesting financial assistance should contact Mrs. Sophia Liarakos, sophia.liarakos@chsd117.org
Students and families are responsible for any extra costs above and beyond the initial testing fee including: late fees, cancellation fees, and “no-show” fees..
Late registrations between November 4 and March 7 must be made in person with Mrs.Liarakos
If your student is ill on exam day, a doctor’s note must be provided to Mrs. Liarakos within 24 hours of the testing time in order to be eligible for an alternate test, AND the guardian should speak with the attendance secretary indicating that the student will not be in attendance that day. Please DO NOT leave a message.
NEW this year: There will be a $40 fee from the College Board for any exam that was ordered but not taken by a student.

Math Learning Center Info (Week 3)
Did you know that Lakes has multiple options for help with math? Consider an option such as the Math Learning Center, which offers personalized assistance from a Lakes Math Teacher during 4th, 5th, and 6th periods. Our Knowledge Nest After School Tutoring program provides additional support beyond class hours from 3:25-4:25pm with qualified math educators. The National Honor Society's peer tutoring program offers a peer-oriented approach, with Lakes students mentoring peers in math. Lastly, students can check out a Big Ideas Math Textbook from the Lakes ILC for additional practice problems and examples. All of these tutoring options can enhance math skills and help provide a deeper understanding of mathematics.
