Board Summary

New Director of Transportation We’re thrilled to announce Mr. Dan Gongwer as our new Director of Transportation. Dan, a Purdue alum and Marine Corps veteran, brings a wealth of experience. He’s eager to kick off his first school year with us!

Wawasee High School Project Update Garmann Miller updated the board on the high school project. We are nearing the end of the design phase, and the project will soon go out to bid. The space is coming together and will go to bid in September.

Julie Mishler concluded her summer as a double national champion in swimming and placed 6th in the 100 Freestyle. She also competed in the US Olympic Trials, qualifying in three events, and we wish her continued success in her senior year at WHS.

North Webster Elementary has been awarded a Little Bit of Luck Grant for Xylophones. The $2,975 will be used to purchase Xylophones for the students in music class

Indiana State Troopers conducted the annual bus inspection. 54 buses passed inspection, with none ordered for repair and are deemed ready for the transportation of students. The remaining 3 will be inspected on August 2. A huge thank you to our mechanic, Todd Ropp, Director Jim Best, Administrative Assistant Dawn Sainer and the Wawasee Bus Drivers who helped keep the inspection flowing smoothly.

Approval of 2024-25 Non Certified Compensation: The board reviewed and approved the classified compensation, which includes a $0.25 longevity increase, with potential for an additional raise later in the year pending ADM certification.

Approval of 2024-25 Administrative Compensation: The board reviewed and approved the administrative compensation for the upcoming school year, aligning it with the raises already agreed upon for teachers under the current two-year collective bargaining agreement.

Consider Continuing Milford SRO Agreement: The board reviewed and approved the continuation of the Milford SRO Agreement for the upcoming school year, pending approval by the Town of Milford at their board meeting.

Consider Lead Learners MOU: The board reviewed and approved the MOU with Lead Learners, continuing our partnership where they cover the director’s salary and benefits, while Wawasee Schools receive membership and professional learning opportunities at no cost.

Approval of Teacher Appreciation Grant Policy: The board approved the annual Teacher Appreciation Grant policy, allowing us to submit it to the Indiana Department of Education and distribute funds when they become available later this year.

NEOLA Policy Updates - First Reading: The board reviewed and approved the first reading of the NEOLA policy updates, which are essential for compliance with changes in state and federal regulations.

North Webster Community Library Appointment: The board approved the appointment of Mary White to the North Webster Library Board, replacing Cinthia Hilgenberg for the remainder of an unexpired term.
