PYLUSD Board Policy 5030 BP and Administrative Regulation 5030 AR (5030 BP 5030 AR). The administrative regulation states the following:

Parents will only provide home prepared items for consumption by their own student. Foods brought to school for the purpose of consumption by other students must be sealed in manufacturer containers and may not be made in the home to protect students’ health and wellness. (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) regulations) Regulations are designed to protect students’ health and wellness.

These regulations are crucial for safeguarding the health and safety of our students. Additionally, please be aware that the PYLUSD Wellness Policy also references and aligns with this guideline. We kindly ask that you and all staff members adhere to this policy to ensure the continued well-being of all students. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe environment.

Thank you to everyone who support our Brookhaven Musical this weekend!

• The "Lucky One" can be parents/guardians, grandparents, aunts/uncles, anyone, however, please keep it to around 2 guests.

• Leave younger children at home.

• "Lucky Ones" must bring in their own lunch and may bring in lunch for the student(s) as well.

• Kindergarten lunch begins at 11:40 a.m. and Upper grade (4th, 5th, 6th) lunch begins at 11:50 a.m. Check in will be at 11:40 a.m. Lower grade (1st, 2nd, 3rd) lunch begins at 12:15 p.m. Check in will be at 12:05 p.m.

• Lunch may be eaten on the grass or blacktop. Remember to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets/towels. Please leave the lunch tables open for students only.

• After finishing lunch, "Lucky Ones" should exit the campus unless you are having lunch with a lower grade student.

• No guests will be allowed to play in the field, on the playground, or on the blacktop.

• Students will not be allowed to call home, so please let your student know your plans for that day.

• Parking is limited. Allow enough time to park and walk on campus.

I’d like to invite you to two different opportunities to familiarize yourself with Tuffree Middle School and all we have to offer. The first will be our 6th Grade Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday, April 8th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Tuffree Middle School Multi-purpose Room. More specific information on that can be found below. I’d also like to invite you to attend our Open House on Tuesday, April 22rd at 6:00-7:00 p.m. There will be a PTA Association meeting in the quad at 5:45pm. Feel free to attend with the family and get an up close peak at what makes Tuffree Middle School great.

Sixth Grade Student Orientation:

Transition from elementary school to middle school is an exciting educational step for your student. As a first step to supporting this transition, 6th graders (who currently attend one of our feeder elementary schools) will be coming to our campus on Tuesday, April 8th from 9:00am-11:30am as a field trip. We want our new students to actually see and feel what it’s like to be a middle schooler. Your student will take a tour of the campus, learn what a typical day in middle school will look like, find out what elective opportunities are available, learn how to register for classes, and see what to expect in middle school. We will give your student an opportunity to meet current student leaders and to ask questions in small student groups.

Sixth Grade Parent Information Meeting:

The evening of April 8th, families will receive a parent version of the student presentation from earlier in the day. This presentation will also be emailed to all families. Included in this presentation is the fall 2025 registration process, including instructions on how to register for classes in Aeries.

ALL parents and students are welcome to attend the annual PYLUSD student art show called Artworks.

The Artworks event is free of charge for all PYLUSD community members and is running from April 1st- April 28th, 2025 from 10am to 5pm. We have SPECIAL opening and closing nights scheduled from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on March 31st, 2025 and April 28th, 2025.

This year we are excited to collaborate with the nationally recognized Nixon Library who is hosting our Artworks event. Although admission is free to see the artwork, if parents and students want to visit the Nixon gardens, the Presidential helicopter, or Nixon historical rooms, they must pay Nixon admission prices. We are extremely grateful to have our student art displayed at this venue and would like to publicly thank the Nixon Library for their generosity.

When you are walking the Nixon halls, there are some special areas of the art show we would like to point out. At the start of the Nixon main hallway, our 2025 Artworks Endangered Species and Nature Conservation Poster Contest winners and finalists are displayed. Five winners took home a $50 Blick Art gift card and had their work displayed throughout the district on posters notifying the community about the show.

Approximately 400+ TK-12th grade PYLUSD students have art in the Artworks show. These pieces were selected by our PYLUSD art teachers. There are no winners in this show (except for the PYLUSD Artworks Poster Contest and PTA Reflections Contest). Artworks is a showcase of the work produced by our PYLUSD students.

In the foyer by the Nixon gift shop 2D artwork is displayed created by students age Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 12th grade. Artwork labeled Elementary is TK - 6th grade, Intermediate is 6th- 8th grade, and Secondary is 9th-12th grade. Right outside the theater the 2025 PYLUSD Reflections Contest 1st place winners are on display. In the Presidential Cabinet room display cases showcase our 3D artwork from our middle and high school students.

Inside the Nixon Theater a short video is being looped presenting more PYLUSD student artwork along with promo videos showcasing our community art partners including the Nixon Library, the Parent Teacher Association (Reflections Contest), Yorba Linda Woman’s Club, Yorba Linda Arts Alliance (Artsology event), the Placentia Chamber of Commerce (Art Grants), the Placentia Women’s Rotary Club, and the 2025 PYLUSD Artworks Contest.

This event will feature a resource fair with valuable community partners, as well as break-out parent sessions covering a variety of important topics to support student and family well-being.
