This third week of Advent is one of JOY! We all are waiting with joyful anticipation, for the birth of Jesus. As we light the third candle on our Advent wreath, we can prepare for Jesus through acts of kindness. Advent is a time of waiting as well as a busy time of preparation. This week we can ask ourselves how are we making room for Christ to be born into our lives?

Mother Teresa of Calcutta brought untold blessings and joy to the poor who lay unattended and forgotten on the streets of Calcutta. When she was asked the source of her joy, Mother Teresa replied:

“Joy is prayer; joy is strength; joy is love and joy is a net of love. A joyful heart is the normal result of a heart burning with love, loving as He loves, helping as He helps, giving as He gives, serving as He serves, rescuing as He rescues, being with Him twenty-four hours, touching Him in His distressing disguise.”

When Advent arrived every year, Mother Teresa’s life continued to witness this joy.

Our St. Luke community has continued to bring joy to the people who are less fortunate. Our Christmas tree of giving continues receiving many donations for the food bank. In addition we have raised to date enough money for 2 Baskets of Blessing for the Lurana Shelter! This will bring great joy to many this Christmas season. There is still a bit of time if you wish to bring in donations. This week we will have a ‘Break the Rules Day'. Donations from this event will go to the Lurana Shelter. See the poster below for some fun activities for Friday.

Our Advent Concert Link will be emailed to all parents and guardians on Thursday night. Please take some time with your child to enjoy their part in the Advent concert. They all worked very hard learning and performing their song and we look forward to sharing this to all our families. I personally want to thank our Music Teacher Mr. Larry Grudinski for all his time and effort in putting together this performance.

Our Leadership Team will be collecting Lonnies for the Lurana Shelter during the Advent Session. Lurana Shelter is a part of Catholic Social Services who is working hard to end violence against women and their children by helping to break the cycle of abuse, while uplifting victims as they rebuild their lives, free from fear and violence. Lurana Shelter is a first-stage, emergency shelter providing safe, secure refuge and emergency services such as food, clothing, transportation and child support as well as specialized services related to counselling and advocacy. For every &100.00 raised our school can purchase a Basket of Blessing for Lurana Shelter.

So far we have raised enough to purchase 2 Baskets of Blessings! Way to go St. Luke!

The St. Luke's Parent Association is happy to announce the Hot Lunch Program is now underway! We will have our final hot lunch for the year Thursday, December 16th, and will start up again on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

If any parents missed the deadline for ordering Hot Lunch but would like to place an order for the final 7 weeks of this session (January and February), we will be reopening the session on MunchALunch for orders from December 17-December 21st. https://munchalunch.com/schools/stluke
