Where Learners Become Leaders
A MESSAGE FROM DR. HARRISON
Hello Legacy Families!
As always, we have A LOT coming up in the next few weeks that I would like to draw your attention to:
- Wednesday, 10/9, Fall Pathways to Success @ Foothill HS (College and Career Event)
- Friday, 10/11, End of Quarter One
- Wednesday, 10/16, Baile Night
- Thursday, 10/17, Great California Shake Out (Earthquake Drill)
- Saturday, 10/19, Robotics Tournament @ LMA
- Saturday, 10/26, PSAT (11th Graders)
- Wednesday, 10/30 Trunk or Treat
If you haven't registered yet for Dino Dash, we hope you will consider registering and selecting Legacy as your school. We are extremely proud of the fact that we have held the title for highest participating secondary school since the year we opened, and we have no plans of letting that trophy go! You can register for the 2K, 5K, 10K, Bike Race, or even purchase a Runnership (a sponsorship for a student in need), ALL of these count towards our registration, and $10 from EACH goes directly back to Legacy. See below for info to register. Thank you for your support!
We continue to receive calls from our neighbors in Columbus Square and at the Village Shopping Center regarding pick up at the end of the day. They are expressing concern due to the congestion at our dismissal time, with students walking/running between cars to get to their pickup car, creating an unsafe environment for our students and the community. Although it may feel like our pickup takes a long time, we have timed it, and our parking lot is clear within 15 minutes of middle school dismissal and 10 minutes of high school dismissal. You are always welcome to wait until 10-15 minutes after dismissal to come through the line and avoid the congestion. We ask that you please help us be good partners with our community and limit the use of the Village. Thank you for your support.
It's gonna be great!
Take care and stay safe,
Dr. Harrison, Principal
2025 National Merit Scholarship Program Semi Finalists!
Congratulations to Jaiden Lee and Justice Cheng for receiving recognition as Semi Finalists through the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. This means that they scored in the 16,000 of roughly 1.3 million students throughout the nation!
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition among high school students for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships that began in 1955. The program is conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. United States high school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which serves as an initial screen of over 1.3 million entrants each year, and by meeting published program entry and participation requirements.
Congratulations to Jaiden and Justice! We are so proud of your accomplishments!
Middle School Robotics Teams Shine at Season's First Tournament!
This past weekend, our Middle School Robotics teams (393V, 393W, 393X, 393Y, and 393Z) kicked off their season with outstanding performances at their first tournament.
Team 393V took home both the Skills Champion Award and the Innovate Award, while Team 393W earned the prestigious Design Award. With these accomplishments, both 393V and 393W have secured spots at the State Championship.
During the qualification matches, Team 393V and Team 393X went undefeated, finishing with an impressive 6-0 record. They dominated the competition, finishing the qualification rounds as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 13th seeds out of 30 participating teams.
Team 393V also achieved an exceptional skills score of 88 points, which includes 47 points in driver control and 41 points in programming (60 seconds each). This incredible score places them 1st in the nation and 4th in the world! In addition, Team 393W is currently ranked 4th in the nation and 23rd in the world!
We couldn’t be prouder of all the teams for their hard work, dedication, and stellar results in their first tournament. Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic start to the season!
