Open Enrollment Policy and Process

Amsterdam Policy 3141 addresses how a family who resides outside of the Amsterdam attendance area may apply to attend Amsterdam if desired. This policy has been updated to reflect changes in Montana legislation under HB 203. If an out-of-district family submits an application and required supporting documents by the deadline, their child will be considered for enrollment in Amsterdam School. The application deadline for enrollment in the 2024-2025 school year is April 15, 2024, and late or incomplete applications will not be considered. To apply, a parent/guardian must complete:

• Non-Resident Application Form
• FP-14 Form (Section I only)

Additionally, Amsterdam requires the past 3 years' school attendance and behavior records. The parent/guardian must request these records from the child's current or previous school(s).

All applications must be submitted to the Amsterdam School Office no later than Monday, April 15. It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to ensure all materials are received by Amsterdam School. This application process must be completed annually. For instance, acceptance for 2024-2025 does not guarantee acceptance for 2025-2026.

Within 10 days of the initial application for the agreement, Amsterdam will notify the parent/guardian of the anticipated date for approval or disapproval of the agreement. Additionally, the Friday prior to the Board's vote for approval/disapproval, the parent/guardian will be emailed the information regarding the superintendent's recommendation to the board. A closed executive session of the Board may be requested by the parent/guardian, in cases of recommended disapproval or waitlist.
