Colonial Park Weekly News
May 20 - May 24
Principal's Note
Dear Colonial Park Families -
Our Ice Cream Social/Art Night last week was such a huge success! It was so much fun to see so many of our families enjoying the event, and Mrs. P's artwork transformed our school into a museum. Thank you so much to our PTO and the parent and staff volunteers for all you do for our Colonial Park families.
I am happy to report that we have concluded our MCAS testing for the 2023-2024 school year! Our third and fourth graders worked incredibly hard last week completing the Math MCAS, and we are all so proud of them.
Our fourth graders thoroughly enjoyed their field trip to Gillette Stadium on Thursday, and it was a great way to celebrate the end of their fourth grade MCAS testing. The kindergarten classes visited the North Shore Children's Museum on Tuesday also, which was another successful trip. This week, Grade 1 will be traveling to the Museum of Science on Wednesday, and then on Thursday, Grade 3 will be walking to the Stoneham Historical Society.
On Tuesday, May 21, Colonial Park will be participating in an Evacuation Drill. With the assistance of the Stoneham Fire Department and Stoneham Police Department, all students and staff will follow our evacuation route (Citation to Fieldstone to Boxwood) at approximately 1:15pm. We will not be entering the high school, and once we arrive at Boxwood, we will return back to Colonial Park. In the event of rain, our drill will take place on Tuesday, May 28.
I continue to update the list of the important events that will occur before the end of the school year at the end of this newsletter. Please review the list, so you are aware of all the action each week!
There will be no school on Monday, May 27, in recognition of Memorial Day and the men and women who lost their lives while defending our country. There is also an Early Release Day on Friday, May 31, for all Stoneham Public School students.
Have a wonderful week!
Best,
Rosa Flynn
