The Latest from L'Etoile
11/22/2024
Dear Franklin Academy Families,
As the holiday season approaches, we want to take a moment to express how truly thankful and grateful we are to have you and your children as part of our Franklin Academy family. One of our main goals is to grow together as a community to help our students be the very best they can be.
We hope you enjoy a restful and joyful holiday break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, December 2nd.
A special shout-out to everyone who made our 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Feast such a success yesterday! It was a wonderful event, and we are so happy to share it with our school community.
Here are some important reminders:
- Shout Out for Gratitude: With the season of gratitude upon us, we’d love to hear who you’re thankful for! If there’s a staff member who’s made a positive impact, please give them a shout-out using the form linked below. It’s a great way to spread appreciation during this time of year.
- Quarter 3 Club Registration: Registration begins today and closes on December 20th. Please see the link below for more information and to register your child.
- PM 2 Testing Dates: Please refer to the testing schedule below for upcoming PM 2 testing dates. We will begin testing when we return from break.
- Service Hour Opportunities: Don’t forget to check the service hour opportunities listed below in our newsletter. Please be sure to complete your required service hours by December 20th.
- IXL & Amira Challenge: We have some great incentives for students participating in the IXL and Amira challenge. Encourage your child to continue using these platforms over the holiday break. Reminder: they can access the platforms on their cell phones!
Check Your Child's Sweaters and Jackets- We’ve noticed that some students are accidentally bringing home sweaters and jackets that are not theirs. Since many items look alike, we kindly ask that you check your child’s clothing for names. If you find an item that doesn’t belong to your child, please return it to school so we can ensure it reaches the correct owner.
Thank you very much for your cooperation!
We wish you a wonderful holiday break filled with love, relaxation, and joy. If you're traveling, stay safe! We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday, December 2nd.
All the Best,
Mrs. L'Etoile

IXL Challenge- Grades 3-8
We are excited to announce our ongoing IXL Challenges for students in grades 3-8! As part of our commitment to helping students strengthen their skills and prepare for the state assessments, we are encouraging all students to participate in our challenges.
Currently, we have two main challenges in progress:
- Most Questions Answered Correctly – Who can answer the most questions correctly?
- 3 or More Skills Completed – Who can complete 3 or more skills?
These challenges are a fun way for students to reinforce what they've been learning in class and prepare for upcoming assessments. We encourage students to dedicate some time over the weekends to work on their IXL skills, as this will help increase their understanding of the key standards tested on the state test.
As we approach the holiday break, we’re introducing a new Holiday Break Challenge! Please take a look at the flyer below for more details and get ready to continue building those skills over the break!
We look forward to seeing all the great progress our students will make through these challenges!
Amira Challenge- Grades K-2
We are excited to announce our Amira Challenges for students in grades K-2! As part of our ongoing efforts to build foundational literacy skills and prepare for the state assessments, we are encouraging all students to participate in this fun and engaging challenge.
Challenge Overview:
Students are encouraged to read books on Amira to help increase their reading comprehension and build a stronger foundation in literacy, which is essential for the state test.
We are excited to see how many books students can read and how they continue to grow in their reading abilities. We also encourage students to dedicate time during the holiday break to continue reading, as it will further enhance their understanding of key literacy standards.
To make it even more fun, we have a new Holiday Break Challenge! Please refer to the flyer below for more details on how to participate.
We look forward to seeing all of our young readers take part in the challenge and celebrate their progress!

IB Inquiry in Action!
Through the transdisciplinary theme (Who We Are), Mrs. Lopez's kindergarten class learned about raising questions about the natural world, investigating them in teams through free exploration, and generating appropriate explanations based on those explorations. In this real-world lab experiment, the students became Pumpkin Explorers as they used tools and the scientific method to investigate this fruit.
