Mission of Mitchell Road Elementary
The mission of Mitchell Road Elementary School is to educate all students in a safe, inclusive learning environment while challenging them to be lifelong learners, prepared for their future as compassionate, respectful, and self-disciplined citizens.
A Message from Mrs. Holman
As this school year comes to a close this week, I want to take a moment to thank you parents—not just for your support this year, but for the past three years. It has been one of the greatest honors of my career to serve as principal of this incredible school. Together, we have faced a lot, celebrated successes, and continued the tradition of having a community rooted in care and high expectations for every child. Thank you for trusting me with your children, for your encouragement, and for being part of this journey. Mitchell Road Elementary will always hold a special place in my heart. I will leave this summer with deep gratitude and lasting memories.
A new adventure truly does await at Mitchell Road and I appreciate your continued support.
Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase School Awarded to MRES!
We are proud to receive this recognition from Capturing Kids' Hearts! This honor reflects the intentional work of our staff to build meaningful relationships with students and create a future where every child feels safe, connected, and empowered to learn. From our morning greetings to affirmations, and daily launches, our staff is committed to making our school a place where hearts and minds grow together.
This recognition is a celebration of our students, staff, and families - thank you for helping us make Mitchell Road a place where students truly come first.
Lunch This Week
*Note, bagged lunches will be served to all students on both half days this week.
MRES Cereal-bration!
Mitchell Road was fortunate to have a donation of individual cereals from Lowes Food. We are putting that donation to good use tomorrow for a cereal-bration. All students will get to pick a cereal of their choice on this day of celebration of all of their hard work this year. We also invite all students to wear their pajamas to school on Monday to make it a cozy day of fun!
Medals for Awards Day
As we prepare for our upcoming Awards Day celebrations, we’re excited to continue our special tradition of adding pins to the medals students have earned throughout the year. Please remind your child to bring their medal back to school so we can add their new pins for this year. First grade parents—no need to worry! Your students will receive their medals on the morning of their Awards Day, so they can proudly wear them as they are recognized for their accomplishments. Thank you for helping us celebrate our students' hard work and growth from this year!

CKH in May
Our monthly theme for May is Integrity. Integrity is the ability and willingness to live with honesty and excellence. People who act with integrity make a choice to do the right thing, no matter who is watching. Integrity is the foundation on which we build relationships and trust. Learn more from the CKH parent newsletters in English and Spanish for how you can work on this skill at home with your child.

Updated Student Calendars for 2025-26 and 2026-27
Greenville County Schools has updated the Student Calendars for 2025-26 and 2026-27 to include three potential makeup days, as required by the state. These calendars were previously released in 2024. Makeup days will only be used if eLearning is not possible. Other than the three makeup days due to Hurricane Helene, GCS has used no makeup days (only eLearning days) in the last five years so it’s unlikely these will be needed outside of unusual, extenuating circumstances. Details and a link to Frequently Asked Questions are below.
2025-26 Calendar:
- Makeup Day 1: May 20 & 21
- December 19 is no longer a half day
- May 20 has become a half day
- Both half days on May 20 and 21 would become full days resulting in one makeup day
- Makeup Day 2: March 13
- Makeup Day 3: April 6
2026-27 Calendar:
- Makeup Day 1: March 12
- Makeup Day 2: March 29
- Makeup Day 3: April 16
