Cedar Hill vs. Duncanville - Sponsored by A&I Chiropractic
The Cedar Hill High School Football Team lost its season finale to District 6A-11 Champion, Duncanville, 48-6, in a game sponsored by A&I Chiropractic last Thursday at Longhorn Stadium. Here's a photo gallery from the game.
Senior quarterback Tamarion Crochett finished the season with 1,686 total yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He completed a fourth quarter touchdown pass to wide receiver Jaxon Caldwell for the junior's first-ever varsity touchdown.
Coach Ward Discusses 2024 Season, Path Forward
The 2024 season wasn’t the one that the Cedar Hill High School Football Program expected or wanted, but Longhorns second-year head coach Nick Ward said they’re focused on moving ahead to 2025.
“We noticed that when you have a winning season and you’re successful, it tends to hide some of the issues that need to be fixed within the program,” Ward said. “There’s nothing good about a losing season, but you can learn lessons from a losing season.”
Last season, the Longhorns won seven of their final eight games to reach the fourth round of the Class 6A Division II playoffs.
Cedar Hill opened the season with a resounding 40-7 victory at Midlothian – where Ward and Associate Head Coach Brice Musgrove had previously worked as assistant coaches.
The Panthers bounced back after that game, winning eight consecutive games to head into the playoffs at 8-2.
“What we were hoping to accomplish is kind of what their season became,” Ward said.
Despite its 3-7 finish, Cedar Hill was less than three touchdowns away from the postseason. A 6-point overtime loss at Lancaster and an 11-point setback at Waxahachie prevented the Longhorns from finishing in the top half of District 6A-11.
Junior Omowale Muhammid heads into the spring as the Longhorns’ top quarterback after scoring two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) toward the end of the season.
“He has the skills, and he became better and better at the end of the season,” Ward said.
Sophomore Juelz Carter will be the top returning running back after finishing as the second-leading rusher in 2024. He rushed for 495 yards and two scores.
Junior Jaxon Caldwell caught his first varsity touchdown pass in the season finale against Duncanville and will be one of the Longhorns’ top receivers heading into 2025.
Cedar Hill will open the 2025 season with Midlothian as the first of a three game homestand that will also includes visits from Allen and Red Oak, respectively. The Longhorns will play six home games and four road games.

CHISD First Responder Appreciation (Sponsored by DAPPS): CHISD PD Officer Thomas Malone
Earlier in his life, Thomas Malone prepared and cooked meals for thousands of his fellow U.S. Army soldiers at Fort Bliss in El Paso.
Now, he’s building relationships with scholars and staff as the Cedar Hill ISD Police Officer assigned to Bessie Coleman Middle School.
The common thread is his commitment to serving others.
Malone is the First Responder Appreciation honoree for November 7, sponsored by Dallas Area Patrol and Protective Services (DAPPS).
“I enjoy working with kids at the middle school level – my door is always open,” Malone said. “The scholars will stop by my office and tell me how their day is going.”
A Dallas native, Malone graduated from Townview Magnet Center and joined the U.S. Army as a Culinary Specialist, serving at Fort Bliss, Fort Liberty, South Korea and Japan.
A combat veteran, Malone also served a year in Afghanistan.
After retiring from the Army as a Sergeant, Malone began a law enforcement career with a total of eight years with the University of North Texas-Dallas Police Department and the Duncanville Police Department.
Joining CHISD-PD last April gave Malone the opportunity to work with K-12 Scholars for the first time.
Star Of The Show (sponsored by CHEF): Emmanuela Ayeni
Emmanuela Ayeni is very involved in Cedar Hill High School and through the community.
The CHHS senior was part of the Color Guard, performing at football games for the past two years.
“My favorite part about color guard is learning new skills and making friends with new people,” said Ayeni, the CHISD Star Of The Show for November 7. “Some of the best advice I’d ever received is ‘do not let anyone dim your light’.”
She credits Color Guard coach Kathy Boyd with helping her to “be patient and resilient.”
In addition to her contributions with Color Guard, Ayeni is a member of the CHHS National Honor Society and the Cedar Hill Mayor’s Teen Council.
After graduation, Ayeni plans to study Nursing with the goal of becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Scholar Athlete (sponsored by CHEF): Keylon Davis
Cedar Hill High School senior wide receiver Keylon Davis has a 3.3 grade point average and is among the top scholars in his class. Davis finished as the Longhorns' second-leading receiver with 23 receptions for 325 yards and two touchdowns.
When Davis was honored before last Thursday's season finale, he chose longtime Cedar Hill ISD Educator Kevin Benjamin.
Benjamin has mentored Davis as his wide receivers coach and also as the teacher of Partner PE where scholars have an opportunity to work alongside and mentor SPED Scholars.
