News from Mrs. Beiswenger
November Greetings!
It is hard to believe we are heading into the month of November! October was filled with many celebrations. First, we had 94% of our families attend parent teacher conferences. This is great and we are so grateful for your support in your child’s learning journey. We will continue to communicate all of the great things students are learning and doing through classroom newsletters and other communications.
Trimester 1 ends on November 15th. Progress reports will be emailed to families on Wednesday, November 20th. However, please know you don’t have to wait to check in on your child’s learning progress. The online visual progress report is accessible to students and families at any time in Powerschool. This is a powerful tool that provides a comprehensive view of your child’s performance. If you have not yet created a parent access account, please call our office for instructions. This report is continuously updated by teachers and you can view it at any time.
In this season of gratitude, I want to take a moment to express my sincere thanks for your unwavering support and partnership. It is what makes Roosevelt a great place to learn. One of my goals this year is to call all families at least once to share a positive about each student. So, expect a call from me sometime soon!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Beiswenger

Student Support Report
~ with Ms. Jones, School Counselor & Mrs. Misek, School Social Worker
Counselor Connection:
In all grades, we discussed the importance of teamwork as it correlates with our life skill of the month. We talked about what it means to cooperate with others, the important components of working together, and did some fun cooperation activities!
Kinder: We talked all about feelings! Ask your child about comfortable and uncomfortable feelings! We also learned & practiced different strategies to calm down and discussed how to make healthy choices.
1st: We discussed how all choices have consequences, good and bad, and the importance of making healthy choices for our minds and bodies.
2nd & 3rd: We talked about the qualities of a good friend and how we can be a good friend to others. We also discussed the importance of making healthy choices for our minds and bodies.
4th: We talked about choices and consequences as well as the 4 different types of health: physical, mental, emotional, and social. With it being Red Ribbon Week, we also talked about how to make good choices to keep our bodies healthy.
5th: We discussed personal health and with it being Red Ribbon Week, the importance of making good, healthy choices for our bodies.
Schoolwide Team Update:
We had a wonderful start to our whole school sticker goal of 2300 stickers by earning 2666 stickers in August and September. Leadership (blue) Team was the highest contributing team with 633 stickers. The entire school was rewarded with an extra recess on 10/4/24 for exceeding their goal.
Each team created a team chant and pennant unique to their team. Pennants are hanging in the hall by the office if you ever want to take a look!
In October we earned 2364 stickers with the Pathfinders (green) Cabin leading the way with 642 stickers. We will have an all-school reward of a digital escape room on 11/7/24.
The life-skill expectation for November switches to empathy. We learned more about empathy and the Asian Indian culture during our Roughrider Rally.
Monthly Expectations Connected to Home:
Helping your child develop empathy doesn’t need to be complicated. You can find a few ideas on how to help at home from PBS Kids.
Resource of the Month:
We know the holiday season can be a difficult time for many reasons, including financial concerns. Here is a list of all the Bismarck and Mandan area food pantries and meal sites.
BPS Coat Policy
It's that time of year where we get to experience multiple seasons in a day! Please help your child dress appropriately for the changing weather.
50°F & Above - Short-Sleeve Weather
40°- 49°F - Sweatshirt, Jacket, Long-Sleeve Weather
<40°F - Coat, Hat, and Gloves Weather.
Students will also need boots and snow pants to play on the playground when there is snow on the ground.
