The Pritchett Post -- 3/14/25
Home of the Panthers!
“The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as we continue to live.” —Mortimer Adler
Dear Pritchett Families,
We’re excited to announce that next week, all four of our schools will be sharing details and sign-up links for our upcoming April Student-Led/Student-Voice Conferences. These conferences provide a wonderful opportunity for your child to showcase their learning, reflect on their progress, and collaboratively set goals for the remainder of the year. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to partner with your child’s teacher to address any questions or insights about your child’s experience here at Pritchett School. These 20-minute conferences are scheduled for:
- Wednesday, April 16: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Thursday, April 17: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
To help you prepare, please keep an eye out for a special edition of The Pritchett Post on Friday, March 21, which will include all the details and links needed to sign up for a time that works best for your family.
Also, Kindergarten families can review a summary of the skills and content taught in Specials (Art, Library, Music, Physical Education, and Technology) during the second trimester. First, second and third-graders can find Specials' grades and summaries on their report card.
Take care and be well,
Dr. Moreland -- Principal
Third-Grade Concert A Huge Hit!
Yesterday, March 13, our third-grade students put on their incredible concert titled, "I Am Enough"! Special thanks to Mrs. Nina Binder and the third-grade staff for a truly memorable evening. Children shared their love of music through a variety of heartfelt songs and instrumental play. Throughout the performance individuals shared their own statements connecting to the concert's theme. Enjoy the short video clip of Dr. Moreland's favorite song! Bravo!
Dress for Vacation Day -- Next Friday!
Last year, to kick off spring break, we asked students and staff to dress like they were heading out on a fun vacation—and it was such a huge hit that we’re bringing it back! Next Friday before spring break will be our "Dress for Vacation" day. Students and staff are invited to dress up as if they’re ready for a fabulous getaway. Whether it’s sunglasses, beachballs, towels, flip-flops, or a big sun hat, there are endless ways to join in the fun. To celebrate, we will hold an indoor school parade so everyone can enjoy the creative and festive vacation attire. We can’t wait to see the fun outfits and share the excitement together!
Second-Step Information
Pritchett School began teaching Unit 4 of Second Step® Elementary, a research-based social-emotional learning program designed to improve children’s social-emotional skills. Second Step skills and concepts are designed to help children both in and out of school. In Unit 4, Problem-Solving, children learn how to identify and state a problem, recognize if a problem is an accident, and use the STEP problem-solving process:
- S: Say the problem
- T: Think of solutions
- E: Explore the outcomes
- P: Pick a solution

The 5Essentials Survey
Beginning on February 18, students and teachers across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the ninth annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. Nurse Notes From Mrs. Lowe
There have been reports of strep throat and influenza at Pritchett within the last two weeks. Please note that some students with strep throat may not complain of throat pain, only headache and/or stomach issues. Do not send your child to school with a fever of 100°F/37.7°C or higher, vomiting, or diarrhea. Your child should be free of these symptoms and feeling well without the use of fever reducing medication (acetaminophen/Tylenol/ibuprofen/Motrin) for 24 hours before returning to school. Please see the attached document for further information.
As always, please contact Mrs. Lowe with any diagnosed communicable diseases.
