Message From Principal | IB Head of School, Mrs. Fox
A month of school completed, thank you for your partnership, your support is evident and appreciated! This week we hosted our MYP, Kinder, and 1st Grade Open Houses, first General PTO Meeting of the year, had our first two soccer games of the season and held our MYP Welcome Back Dance yesterday after school. Wonderful turn out, it was great to see our students having some time together to rekindle friendships from last year and create new ones along the way. Next week we have our 2nd-5th Grade Open Houses, 4th-5th Grade Welcome Back Dance, Picture Day (link below) for all students, two more soccer games at the park next door, Gold Tryouts as well as Chess Team Tryouts.
As a school community we were saddened to hear the news that took place at Apalachee High in Georgia, our prayers go out to all of the families and school community. Any time we hear of this type of tragedy, we reflect on our own protocols and safety plans. This weekend Broward Schools also communicated that they are working on online threats that were made to some schools (not our campus) and remind us all to share with our children/students that all threats are taken seriously. 'BSO reminds the public that making a school threat is no joke. Under Florida law, whether it is said aloud, written in text, or posted on social media, an individual can be charged with a felony for written threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting.'
UNIFORM ANNOUNCEMENT-
Our Foundation Team that iUniforms has communicated that 99% of orders have been filled and uniform infractions will begin on Monday. Please keep all NON-Franklin outerwear at home as it will be confiscated daily. If students don't have a Franklin sweater/jacket, they may wear a long sleeve shirt underneath, see uniform policy below.
Please review the visual below with our uniform policy which is mandatory; you acknowledged our policies upon registration, (uniform policy/chart below is in our handbook). All students in 2nd grade and higher MUST be tucked in and have a belt as this is an important piece of our safety plan. Please ensure your child has a belt when wearing shorts/pants.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please complete the HEALTH SERVICES Form on your PowerSchool Family Portal. There are yearly health screenings we must conduct for certain grades (K, 1,3, 6) AND there's also a question on the form for your consent for your child(ren) to be treated at the nurse's station.
Even though all students can receive a free breakfast and lunch each day, we still need to have our families complete the annual lunch application as our school may qualify for additional discounts and grants. Please click on the link below if you haven't completed the application for this school year.
All things Book Fair are here! Set-up starts on Friday, check out the links below for many opportunities to volunteer! Reading With the Principal flyer included as well for 9/19 & 9/25.

Carline Arrival/Dismissal Reminders
MORNING DROP OFF-
Reminder, when arriving on campus for morning arrival (or dismissal), you CANNOT make a left turn to enter through the back, that is reserved for staff only as they need to report on time. You must follow staff directions enter the park or head straight through the archway (depending on if you arrive later in the window and we have finished with the park). In the morning, to expedite arrival, we also use the bus loop for drop off, ONLY IF THE STAFF MEMBER DIRECTS in that direction. Students will follow the carline curb and still enter through the SINGLE POINT OF ENTRY at the front door.
MORNING DROP OFF MYP FAMILIES-
Please ensure that if you have an MYP child without an elementary sibling, your child CANNOT arrive before 8AM. Students will be held outside and they will be directed to call you to pick them up. Staggered arrival for our MYP students is part of our written charter agreement to ensure we have proper staffing and follow traffic patterns on Flamingo Road.
MYP CARLINE 3:00PM ARRIVAL REMINDER-
Arrival on campus starts at 3PM, not a minute earlier. As part of the new contract with the city to use the park for carline, we CANNOT stack in the park before 3PM and will have ALL CARS exit and return at 3PM. Please share this information with any friend(s) or family member(s) you may send to pick up your child(ren).
