Lake Bluff Elementary School Family Newsletter
Hello Lake Bluff Families,
I wanted to remind you that we have a couple days off of school next week. There will be no school on Monday, January 20 in celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In his honor, let us be reminded of those powerful words he spoke “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” We will also have off on Friday, January 24 as staff will be participating in professional development.
We have opened up registration for our 4K (4-year old kindergarten) for the 24-25 school year. If you have a child or neighbor that needs to register, please see the flyer below. Also, please note there is a 4K open house for ADULTS ONLY on January 29 from 6-7pm.
Finally, winter has officially arrived, and with that there are a few things to keep in mind when sending your students to school...
- If your student is sick please keep them home to help prevent the spread of illness at school. More information about when to keep your student home can be found at the link below.
- The air is very dry and lots of kids have been coming to the health office with chapped lips, please consider keeping a small chapstick in their backpack or applying some before they leave for school in the morning.
- Please help remind your student of the importance of hand washing, hand sanitizer alone does not work against things like the Norovirus!
- Being in the cold won’t make you sick, but it can make you more likely to get sick if you’ve been exposed to germs. Please make sure your student has proper outdoor gear with them each day when they come to school.
Kind Regards,
Johanna French, Interim Principal

Shorewood Softball
Registration for the 2025 SLL Softball season is officially OPEN! To register, go to ShorewoodLittleLeague.com and click on the Registration tab to get started.
Our program is open to girls who are currently in grades 3 through 8. Families who register more than one player (including in SLL baseball) receive a discount.
Practices will begin at the start of May, with games running through June and July. We encourage beginners as well as athletes who are active in other sports to participate in this summer program. We are planning on a fun and competitive season where girls get to play with their friends while making new ones. Games and practices will mostly take place in Shorewood.
If you have any questions about registration or the program, please let us know.
SPRING CLINICS
Shorewood Little League and the Grey Falcats co-op, the high school program that includes Shorewood High School, Brown Deer High School and the University School of Milwaukee, will once again host spring clinics for youth players at Shorewood High School this spring. Clinics will be led by Grey Falcats varsity coach Chris Miller. The clinics are a great way to hone your skills and get ready for the coming season.
There are two sets of clinics.
1. Softball Camp, on four consecutive Sundays from Feb. 23 through March 16, focused on hitting, fielding and conditioning.
2. Pitching Clinic, on April 6, 13, 27 and May 4.
To register, go to ShorewoodRecreation.org, click on the "Youth Sports" tab, and then "Softball."
