Class Groupings
Teachers will soon be looking at class groupings for 2025 Many factors are considered when selecting class placements for students and each child’s best interests are the main priority when these decisions are made. Class placements are a team decision made in consultation with both the year level teachers. Teachers spend a lot of time and give great consideration to the placement of children and I believe that their professionalism should be respected. Consideration for placement is made using the following criteria: Gender; Pastoral/Social/Emotional; Special Needs e.g. special education, twins, etc; Academic ability; Relationships etc.
Every effort is made to place children where it is felt they will have the greatest opportunity to succeed. All teachers at PCPS are very professional and of an excellent standard and children will receive a high quality of education no matter which class they are placed with.
If your child has special pastoral needs which may need consideration, please ensure that you have made a time to meet with your child’s class teacher before Monday 25 November.
Parents should understand that requests may be considered however it does not mean that they necessarily come to fruition. The final decision remains with the class teachers and Leadership Team who have the overall picture in mind for the cohort as a whole.
Requesting a certain teacher is not a consideration.
Once class groupings are finalised they will not be changed so please do not contact the teachers, Leadership Team or the office after the cut-off date nor once you receive details about your child’s class.
It is good for families to know placements for the following year so that they are able to arrange for children to get together over the holidays if they wish. Parents will be notified of their child’s teacher via SEQTA on Friday 13 December.
If your child is not returning to PCPS in 2025 please advise the office in immediately.
Transition
At PCPS we have a thorough handover procedure between the staff for the end of the year and also a transition programme for all classes which has been highly beneficial. This will take place on 29 November. Children will move up a year level for the morning and spend some time with year level teachers. Kindy will have their Transition day on days they attend school. The Pre-primary classes will have additional parts to their transition programme to ensure that the children have been well prepared for the move to the ‘big part of the school’.
Mrs Fisher, our social worker, will also be on hand to assist, not only at the beginning of the year but also during the year, with transitioning.
Thank You
The Advisory Council would like to thank those families who have paid their school fees and are up to date. Should you have any outstanding fees, please pay these immediately. As per the school fee policy, the Advisory Council Finance Committee may take action to recover any unpaid fees through a debt collection agency. There are a number of methods in which families at the school can pay their school fees. These include: credit card; EFTPOS, cash, cheque, direct debit and internet banking. Please see the Finance Manager Prelean Bismark, for further details.
Orientation
Pre Kindy and Kindy
We welcome our beautiful 2025 PK and Kindy children and parents to PCPS over the next couple of weeks as they experience Orientation Day. Our Pre Kindy (3yr old) list is growing fast for 2026 so if you would like to secure a place for your child please contact Mrs Ellen at the school office to enrol your child. If you have friends or neighbours with children who would be ready for Pre Kindy, please encourage them to enrol.
There are extremely limited vacancies in some year levels in 2025 so if you know of anyone looking for a position, please recommend our beautiful school.
We are currently enrolling for Pre Kindy and Kindy 2027, 2028 and beyond so please get your application in for your child as soon as possible.
Padbury Catholic Primary School Art Exhibition
Our Art Exhibition will be held from Monday 18 November until Friday 22 November. This beautiful artwork will be on display in the hall before and after school and we invite parents to come along during these times to see the spectacular work our wonderful students have created. We thank Mrs Bastow for her outstanding effort in preparing the students to create these master pieces and also for her extended hours in ensuring the artwork was ready to be displayed for the exhibition. We have some very inspiring artists who one day I’m sure will have their work displayed in the Prada Museum.
Remembrance Day
On Monday 11 November, we commemorated all those who fought in wars. It was a reverent and memorable prayer service. Thank you to all our staff and students who participated to make this a special day. Lest we forget!
SCIENCE
Last Friday 8 November we had our annual Science Fair that was a huge success. The Year 6 students impressed us with their scientific knowledge and understanding. Students, staff and parents were thoroughly engaged in all of the experiments that were on display. A big thank you to Mr Hignett and Mrs Ewen for their guidance and providing the students with a wonderful opportunity to show off their scientific talents.
Disco Fever
Congratulations to Lisa and Simone on the fantastic organisation of the Disco’s last week. It was great to see so many young people come along and enjoy themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed having a boogie with a few of the younger children. Well done ladies!
Reports
I have been enjoying reading the children reports and am very impressed with the results achieved overall. The children have certainly been working extremely hard and should be very proud of their efforts. Reports will be issued in Week 9.
Annual Community Meeting
On Wednesday evening we held our Annual Community Meeting for the Advisory Council and P&F.
There is a great team of parents who make up our very enthusiastic and keen P&F. The Leadership Team thanks the Executive for their outstanding effort once again this year - well done to Cathy, Megann, Sara and Severine.
This year we have continued to be surrounded by a keen, positive and truly vibrant P&F committee who continue to give so much of their time to lead a range of portfolios. All P&F Portfolio holders, committee members and class reps have worked together seamlessly as a team to enrich our school community and provide for the children, staff and parents.
The Leadership Team thank you for all your hard work in organizing a variety of spiritual, social, fundraising and parent education events this year – a brilliant effort.
Our sincere gratitude and thanks to Father Cyprian and Father Francis who provide spiritual guidance to us all at PCPS throughout the year. We are very lucky to have them in our community.
Our sincere thanks to all 2024 Catholic School Advisory Council members for your contribution and dedication during the year and for always having the children at the forefront of your decisions. Your commitment has been very much appreciated. Particular thanks to Gianni Da Rui for undertaking the role of Chair and for your never-ending support of the Leadership Team. It is truly appreciated. We sincerely thank Gianni for his six years on the Advisory Council and wish him well as he takes a little break from the role.
