Inclement Weather Closures
WPR is an entity of Widefield School District 3. As such, we are required to follow school district inclement weather closures to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and patrons.
In the case of WSD3 closing for inclement weather:
All WPR facilities will be closed (including the Recreation Center and Aquatics Center)
All WPR classes, activities, programs, and events will be canceled
In the case of WSD3 calling a delayed start:
The WPR Recreation Center and Aquatics Center will open at 8:30am
All classes, activities, programs, and events beginning before 8:30am will be canceled (including Morning Preschool)
In the case of WSD3 canceling after school activities:
All WPR facilities will close at 4:30pm (including the Recreation Center and Aquatics Center)
All activities, classes, programs, and events will be canceled
WPR will do our best to communicate with patrons and program participants about any closures. Please follow our social media pages, as well as check our website and your email for updates.

19th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting
Join us for the 19th annual celebration at WPR! Enjoy FREE activities, Santa, S’mores, cookies, hot cocoa, craft fair, and more. We will be accepting gently used or new coats and new toys as donations during the event. There will also be several food trucks at the event for you to purchase dinner for your family. Stay tuned for a map to be published and a list of vendors attending. We want to see you there! Date: Tuesday, December 3 @ 5:30 - 7:30pm.

WPR Preschool 2024/2025 School Year
Preschool registration is open for the 2024/2025 school year! Limited spots available! More information and required paperwork can be found on our WPR Preschool website for our 3 year old and 4 year old programs!

Brick Garden
WPR is creating a brick garden in front of the Recreation Center. The first round of bricks have been installed. If you missed ordering in October, the next order will be placed January 1. Order bricks here!
Cook With Us!
Learn how to safely water bath can your food to preserve them. Preserving foods for your pantry is a great way to stock up for your family and extend the bounty of your garden harvest or save your bulk purchases from spoiling. Everyone will walk away with one preserved jar of goods. Date: Monday, November 18 @ 5 - 7pm. Fee: $30. Ages: 16+. Register by November 11!

Painting P-art-y - Glowing Holiday Tree
This adult painting class is for beginners and seasoned painters alike. You will be taken step by step through a glowing holiday tree painting to take home and enjoy. Learn about mixing techniques and layering effects, no previous knowledge is necessary. Our art instructor directs you through the painting process to help bring out your inner artist. Everyone will walk away with a painting. No need to bring anything with you, except your creativity!
Date: Wednesday, November 20 @ 6:30 - 8:30pm. Fee: $25. Ages: 16+. Register by November 18!
Play With Us!
It's time to grab your paddle and sign up for our Pickleball Sunday Doubles League or Monday Morning Doubles League! The registration fee is $30 per player for 18 games. The league registration deadline is January 12. It’s kind of a big dill! You can register as an individual player or come with a friend.
Youth Pickleball Lessons are now available at the WPR Recreation Center! Join us on January 6-7 for a 2-day lesson to learn the fundamentals of the sport with our experienced instructors. This program is for 2nd to 5th graders. Please register by January 1. Fee: $40.
Basketball Skill Development Camp
Level up your game this December with our basketball skills development camp for kindergarten through 5th grade! The camp will take place at the Recreation Center. COED camps-check out our website for more information on dates and to register. Register by October 24. Fee: $20.
Youth Basketball League
Learn the fundamentals of basketball in a fun environment that emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development. Leagues are available for Kindergarten through 5th grade. The season begins on January 25, register by December 29! Fee: $50 (7 games).
Youth Volleyball League
WPR’s COED Volleyball League for 6th to 8th graders is open for registration until January 5! The season begins on February 1, with practices held on weeknights and games played on Saturdays and/or weeknights. Fee: $40 (5-game guarantee).
Tiny Tykes Soccer
A FUNdamental program that teaches basic soccer skills while focusing on motor skill development, balance, coordination, concentration, listening skills, and teamwork of players ages 2-5. Sessions run Saturdays January 25 - March. 8. For details and to register online go to challengersports.com.

Personal Training

We also offer a one time, free 30-minute Personal Training session where you can meet one of our personal trainers, discuss training methods, your goals, previous experience and any questions you may have! Register online now!

12 Days of Fitmas
Join us for our 2nd Annual 12 Days of Fitmas Challenge. Stop in the last week of November to pick up this year’s Challenge Sheet. Starting December 1, complete one challenge per day until you have all challenges completed and initialed by a Parks and Rec staff member. Turn in your initialed challenge sheet to Guest Services to receive a 2024 WPR Fitness Ornament and be entered into a drawing for a Grand Prize!
Martial Arts - January & February
With martial arts as a foundation, participants have the opportunity to develop self-awareness and self-confidence. GOJU-RYU KARATE is a comprehensive martial art derived from the Okinawan system of self-defense. Participants of all skill levels can benefit from this program by relieving stress, help with weight loss, coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina, and assist in self-control. We do recommend you come in to observe a class prior to registering to make sure this style of class will fit your needs. Dates: Mondays & Wednesdays in January & February @ 6 - 7:30pm. No class January 20 and February 17. Ages: 7 and older. Fee: $105. Location: Recreation Center Fitness Room 2
High School Training Camp - January & February
High School Athlete Off-Season Training camp available for all high school students and athletes. The program is designed to develop and maximize the athletic abilities of all young students and athletes. We will be incorporating speed training (specifically explosive speed and ground force development), flexibility, agility training, and reactive training (both linear and lateral speed). We will also take time to discuss basic sport nutrition. Dates: Saturdays, January 4 - February 8 @ 10 - 11:30am. Fee: $45. Location: Meet at the Recreation Center Fitness Room 1

Blended Learning CPR & First Aid
This is a blended learning course that includes an online portion (approximately 4 hours) and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a digital certificate for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Each participant must have a unique email address to obtain credit for the course. Please do not use the same email address for multiple registrations. Date: Saturday, November 16 @ 11am - 1pm. Ages: 11+ Fee: $75. Register by November 7.
This two-day class includes all of the skills and information covered in the American Red Cross Babysitting Class, plus Infant and Child CPR. This fun and interactive training includes lively discussions and real life problem-solving skills, how to handle emergencies and illnesses, basic care-giving skills, how to choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games, and how to effectively handle bedtime and discipline issues. Dates: November 25 & 26 @ 9am - 3pm. Ages: 11 - 15 Fee: $120. Register by November 18.
