Bird's Word for November 21, 2024
November 21, 2024
Reminder: No School – November 28 & 29 or December 2
What a fun week it has been. Student Wellness week brought fun and heart healthy learning for all. Thank you for participating in our Wellness Week Challenge. More fun will happen next week as our Falcon Families gather on Tuesday for our annual Falcon Bingo.
Next Wednesday, November 27th will mark the end of our first trimester. We will have had 57 days of learning and growing. It is so sweet to see our kindergartners celebrate their 50th day this week as they noted being 50 days smarter. Monday, December 2nd is a day teachers will prepare report cards and progress reports that will be sent home with your child/ren next Thursday, December 5th. To determine how students are progressing in meeting grade level standards teachers will review multiple pieces of information that they have gathered through the trimester. Please reach out to your child's teacher, if you have any questions after reviewing the report card.
As we approach the end of the trimester, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to each of you. Your support and involvement have been vital to our school community, helping us create an enriching environment for our students.
Thank you for your commitment, whether it's volunteering at events, participating in school activities, or encouraging your children in their learning journey. Your partnership means the world to us and plays a crucial role in our students’ success.
Let’s continue to foster this spirit of gratitude as we work together to inspire our children every day. Wishing you and your families a wonderful fall break filled with joy and appreciation.

Reminder to label student items
Please remember to label your student(s)' items: backpacks, Case-Its, jackets, snowpants, water bottles, mittens and hats! This helps lost items find their way to the owner and keeps our Lost & Found from becoming a mountain of clothing.
This is why it's good to label clothing.
Do you see anything that belongs to your student(s)?
Lost and Found will be donated at the end of day tomorrow.
Volunteers Needed
Falcon Bingo is coming up November 26th and we are looking for four volunteers to come in from 1:45-3:00pm to help at the prize tables. Please call the school office to sign up: 651-646-0021 or email Louise at louise.portuese@isd623.org. Thanks!

In this workshop, participants learn about the values and concerns of those who differ from them politically. It teaches essential skills for communicating across difference and finding common ground with peers/family members/neighbors. This is a great time to refresh your skills before the winter holiday gatherings commence. This event is open & welcome to all people. See you there!
Thank you to everyone who supported the book fair! Your generosity helps provide new books and enrich our library & classrooms, fostering a love of reading in our students. We appreciate your contribution and are grateful for your continued support! Happy reading! 📚✨
Gratitude and Mental Health
Scientific research recognizes the importance of gratitude in managing stress, anxiety, and depression. Noticing and expressing gratitude trains your brain to notice and appreciate the good things which can shift your life experience tremendously. Consider this, “Gratitude can increase your happiness and wellbeing, life satisfaction, even overall health while decreasing (symptoms of) anxiety, depression, and anger. It can be a powerful practice to cultivate, especially if you struggle with anxiety or depression.” Some ways you can practice gratitude include keeping a gratitude journal, making a mental list at bedtime of things you are thankful for that day, expressing gratitude to others, meditation, and keeping a “bigger picture” perspective.
