GJH Fundraiser!
Students have been doing a great job of selling chocolate bars, and it's not too late to get involved!
The fundraiser ends on September 19th, so students can still pick up more boxes to sell throughout this week and the weekend. All proceeds from the fundraiser are used to support student activities, field trips, and rewards.
Students will be able to draw a prize for every box they sell. Students will also have their names entered in the grand prize drawing each time they turn in money for a box.
If you have questions regarding this year's school fundraiser, please email Lisa Herschberger at lherschberger@goshenschools.org
Thank you for your support of our fundraiser!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Maust-Emery
This is my 8th year at GJHS. I was an EL Collaborator for 2 years before I became a Math Teacher. I’m in my 6th year teaching math and I really enjoy it. I grew up in Florida and Yucatan, Mexico before moving to Goshen when I was 14 and I’ve been here ever since then. I love GJHS because the staff is amazing, and I love our team mentality. We enjoy working with this age group. Everyone is very helpful and adapting constantly to what works best for our students. In my spare time, you’ll see me practicing my handwriting and calligraphy. I always have at least one fountain pen on me. Some of my favorite activities at Goshen are going to soccer games and musicals. I love seeing how talented out students are.
Safety
1. Cars picking up students should not enter the front parking lot until the buses have left the lot. Please plan to pick up your child at the North or South end of the building instead of in the front.
2. Outside doors will be locked during the school day, with the exception of the main entrance into the Welcome Center.
3. Parents and visitors will check in through the window in the welcome center.
4. The front door of GJH will open at 8:00 each day. As the weather gets colder, students who are dropped off very early may want to make other arrangements to avoid standing out in the cold.
5. Classroom doors will remain locked throughout the school day.
As always, if you have concerns or questions about the safety of students at GJH, please contact us so we can address these.
Online Resource Help for Parents
Detailed instructions and support for using these resources can be found here: https://goshenschools.instructure.com/courses/9841
Mrs. Padilla, GJH Parent Liaison, will also be doing a tutorial for parents of new students to help with these resources. This will be held on Tuesday, August 23rd, from 5:00-6:30, in the GJH Media Center.
GJH Athletics
GJH students will be able to attend home athletic events for free this year with a student ID or RedHawk bracelet.
Please review the expectations for students attending athletic events:
- Students will sit on benches in the lobby outside the gymnasium while waiting for events to start.
- Students staying for events will remain in the building or on the field throughout the event until they leave to go home. Students may not leave the property and return. Students may not walk to the gas station and return.
- Students will remain on the bleachers and not go under the bleachers.
- Students are expected to follow all school rules while attending events. Students not following rules or complying with adult directions may be suspended from attending events for up to the remainder of the school year.
- Students are expected to represent GJH in a positive way. Interactions with visiting teams and spectators should be positive and respectful.
- Students are expected to pre-arrange a ride home. Rides should arrive promptly at the end of the event.
