6th Grade- Sixth graders began the Greek Mythology unit with notes on "the what and the why'' of mythology. We have been reading from D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths to gain background knowledge about important characters like the 12 Olympians, Cronus, and Gaea. We also began our class study of the myth "The Gorgon's Head" by Anne Terry White. We will continue our study of this myth by diving deeper with Depth & Complexity notes and writing about the themes found in the myth.

7th Grade- Seventh graders have been working hard to learn classroom routines and complete their iReady reading diagnostic. Students have also been focusing on fundamentals like sentence patterns, predicates and subjects, note taking and improving reading strategies. They will have ample opportunities to practice these skills in various formats over the coming weeks.

8th Grade- Mr. Milton's Language Artists have started reading The Boys in the Boat, the poignant and powerful story of the University of Washington rowers who defy the odds to win 8-man crew gold at the 1936 Olympics.

Students in Mrs. Marrero's 8th grade language arts class practiced using the R.A.F.T. writing strategy paying attention to the Role, Audience, Format, and Topic when we write. Students were given 3 choices: an informational brochure, journal entries, or an advertisement that went with the short, The Story of Keesh by Jack London. The I-5 Mounts Road to Steilacoom-DuPont Road Corridor Improvements projects began in August. If you’ve driven Interstate 5 recently, chances are you’ve seen new orange construction signs, shifted lanes and construction activity by exit 119/Steilacoom-DuPont Road.

WSDOT wants travelers to know what is happening and the work hours they will see lane or ramp closures. The online open house will be updated throughout the life of the project. Here are the links:
