Principal's Message
Greetings Thurston Elementary Families,
As we step into the month of March, I am filled with a sense of excitement for the wonderful opportunities and experiences that lie ahead for our school community. March is a time of transition, where we bid farewell to winter and eagerly welcome the signs of spring.
As we gear up for Spring Break, I urge everyone to take this time to rest, rejuvenate, and spend quality time with loved ones. Let's return refreshed and ready to embrace the remainder of the school year with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. Together, we can create a positive and enriching learning experience for all our students.
Warm Regards,
Amber Mitchell, Principal

Library News
Congratulations to 101 Dominations, our school representatives for OBoB! We held our school battle last Monday; Brennan, Brody, Jiraiya and Princeton will represent TES at regionals on March 9th. Good luck, boys!!
***Thank you for your support of our Book Fair!!! We earned about $10,600, which will directly impact our library and your own students' literacy!
K/1 Learn to Ride
With the partnership of Springfield Safe Routes to School and other community members, we are able to provide bicycle education for Kindergarten and 1st grade students during PE from 2/26-3/14! Volunteers are welcome for this valuable and fun experience - if you would like to help, please contact our office at 541-744-6411.
Kinder Search
If you know of a student who lives in our attendance area and will be 5 on or before September 5th, please have their family contact our office. We keep a list of known upcoming kindergarteners, and would like to be able to reach out to families about preparations and events. If past years are an indication, we'll have a kinder orientation early in May.

Classified Appreciation Week
March 4-8 is SPS Classified Appreciation Week. Classified staff are school staff who are not licensed teaching staff. This includes our educational assistants, custodians and maintenance staff, cooks, office and health room staff, librarians, bus drivers, and staff in our downtown office. At TES, we have the same number of classified staff making the school run as we have teachers. When you see one of them this week, please tell them "thank you" for helping make TES the wonderful school it is!
OnPoint Credit Union
OnPoint Community Credit Union has opened nominations for their annual Excellence in Education award. Four Educators of the Year and four runners-up will receive an award - mortgage/rent paid for a year, donation to the school, and cash awards are available. Anyone can nominate an outstanding teacher. In addition, the Community Builder Award is available for school projects. For more information on these awards, visit onpointprize.com. Nominations are due by April 8th.
