About This Series...
During this three day series, participants will learn about resources and best practices to:
- Plan and utilize high-quality Centers, meal times, and transitions to expand learning opportunities.
- Evaluate their classroom environments and activities to ensure all domains of development are addressed in a developmentally appropriate manner.
- Offer an environment in which play experiences enhance learning.
- Promote an environment of safety, respect, and warmth through interactions with students.
- Foster positive social skills among students through modeling and guidance on communication, problem solving, and self-regulation.
- Articulate the importance of physical environment and arrangement to support students' behavior and learning.
- Evaluate and enhance learning experience to instill problem solving skills and a love of learning.
Participants will receive a free copy of Focus on Developmentally Appropriate Practice: Equitable and Joyful Learning in Preschool.
This three day training (8:30 - 3:30 each session) is designed for Preschool administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers. Participants MUST attend all three days.
This training is Ohio Approved. Participants will receive 24 Ohio Approved professional development hours (18 training hours + 6 hours for classroom implementation between sessions) upon completion of all training dates. Agenda
Day 1
- Promote an environment of safety, respect, and warmth through interactions with students.
- Foster positive social skills among students through modeling and guidance on communication, problem solving, and self-regulation.
- Identify and implement personal care routines and opportunities for gross motor play.
- Assess and enhance classroom practices related to emergent literacy.
Day 2
- Evaluate classroom environments and activities to ensure all domains of development are addressed in a developmentally appropriate manner.
- Identify and reference professional resources that can be used to inform classroom practices.
- Assess indoor and outdoor classroom environments and make enhancements to ensure optimal support of learning across domains.
- Offer an environment in which play experiences are used to enhance learning.
- Articulate the importance of physical environment to students' behavior and learning and evaluate their own classrooms for effective arrangement.
Day 3
- Evaluate and enhance learning experiences to instill problem solving and a love of learning in students.
- Identify types of learning experiences and opportunities to incorporate them into the daily schedule.
- Identify key components of each classroom Center.
