Congrats to our Amazing Unified Sports Athletes bringing home the medals at the Unified Sports Bocce tournament last month. Teagan Brennan and Zane Gahagan bringing home gold medals. Casper Hudson with his partner Jacob Kaufman-Ilstrup brought home the bronze in their division. Love seeing our students partnering together to offer this great experience!
A HUGE "Gracias" and "Merci" to Bibba Kahn and Ashley Dubois in organizing our 8th graders trip to Montreal last week. It was a great trip and experience even with the heat!
MSMS 8th Grade Promotion and Last Day of School!
Last Half Day at MSMS!
On Wednesday, June 14th MSMS 8th Graders will arrive in the morning for their last day of school at Main Street Middle School at the normal time of 8:00 a.m.After an extended TA to wrap up the end of the year, they will have time to clean out their lockers and then we will move our 8th grade student to the gymnasium for a few quick announcements. After the announcements at 9:20, they will pass through our Main Floor one last time being clapped out of the building by our Grade 5-7 Gators and Staff out of the Franklin Street Doors. (Caregivers feel free to come and clap them off too!). We will then walk our 8th grade students to Montpelier High School. There we will have a promotion ceremony rehearsal. Students will eat lunch at the high school at 11:15 and after lunch and games will be dismissed from MHS at noon.
Promotion Ceremony
The promotion ceremony will be held at MHS at the soccer field. Students should arrive at MHS by 5:30 at the latest. The promotion ceremony will start promptly at 6:00 pm and should last no longer than one hour. After the ceremony, there will be time for families to take photos with their students before the Black Light Promotion Dance at MHS starting at 7:30!
Last Call for Lost and Found!
Step Up Day and Transitions for Students Grades 4-7
Thursday, June 15th we will end our school year with a "Step Up Day." This is a time we welcome our incoming 5th graders and for all our students to spend some time with their new TA teachers and meet some of the classmates they will be learning with come this fall. Students will get a bagged lunch to share with their TA during this time, have some team time, and will be dismissed at noon.
8th Grade Celebration Party - June 14th!
When: Wednesday, June 14, from 7:30 - 9:30 pm (directly following the 8th-grade promotion ceremony at the high school)
Where: Cafeteria at Montpelier High School
Why: To celebrate our 8th graders moving on to Montpelier High School in the fall, the Community Alliance Group is hosting a Black Light Celebration Party in the Montpelier High School cafeteria following the Promotion Ceremony on June 14. All MSMS 8th graders are invited to come to celebrate with their classmates!
The Black Light Celebration party will have refreshments, glow sticks, and music and games hosted by Top Hat Entertainment. Helpful tips: If your student wants to "glow" at the celebration, any clothing or materials that are white, fluorescent, or neon will glow in the black light. "Glow in the dark" items will shine brightly under blacklight. If you don't want to glow, choose black or darker colors for most of your outfit.
Historically, it’s been the 7th-grade caregivers that help on the day of this event so the 8th-grade parents can be fully present for the day’s activities and ceremony. We thank you in advance for helping make this event happen!
Volunteers & Donations Needed for 8th Grade Celebration Party
There are 86 8th-graders, and we’re looking for snacks, drinks, baked goods, and pizza donations to help feed them. If you’d rather donate funds to help purchase these items, you can Venmo Stephanie @Stephani-Kononan
You can arrange a drop-off time before the event for nonperishable donations by emailing Kelly Poor (kstoddardpoor@aarp.org) or text 802-393-9187
For perishable items, please plan to drop your items off at MHS’s cafeteria between 6:00 pm and 6:45 pm. If you need an earlier drop-time because you’re an 8th-grade caregiver, let us know, and we can make arrangements.
