TIGER TIMES
Back to School Edition - August 2023
Everything is ready to go for Tuesday and we are so very excited to welcome back our Titus Tigers!
Please enjoy this brief communication with 5 "things" to know and expect for Day 1.
Your Proud Principals.
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski and Mr. Dave Filson
***Check out our newsletter last week (Dated August 23rd) for much more detailed information about the year and all things Titus.
#1
TITUS SCHOOL DAY
We are an "A" or early school, and our hours are 8:35 AM to 3:15 PM.
The morning kindergarten session hours are 8:35 AM to 11:10 AM.
(Parents must pick up AM students.)
The afternoon kindergarten session will run from 12:40 PM to 3:15PM.
(Parents must drop off PM students.)
#2
RECESS & LUNCH
With some creativity and work, we were able to rearrange our instructional schedule so that all grades will enjoy lunch and playtime with only their grade level peers.
No longer are two grades together in our Dining Room or (NEW!) Playground.
This will allow more open and creative play outdoors and shorter wait times for lunch indoors.
#3
CELL PHONE & SMART WATCH POLICY
In accordance with CBSD school board policy (829.1), the use of personal electronic devices by elementary school students is prohibited within district buildings, on district property, and during school-sponsored activities. To see the full policy, please click here,
Given the policy and the young age of our students, all electronic devices should be turned off and stored in backpacks. Students are not permitted to carry cell phones or watches on their bodies. Students may always use phones in the classroom, main office, or nurse’s office. Titus staff are available to assist and support your child in any situation.
If your child has a cell phone or smart watch, please review these guidelines with them and explain our consequences.
- 1st offense –Device is removed and given to the principal. The principal will call home, the device will be picked up by the parent.
- 2nd and repeated offenses – Device is removed and given to the principal. The principal will set up an in-school meeting with student and parents to review next steps and progressive disciplinary consequences.
Thank you for your continued partnership is helping to raise confident and focused kids.
#4
BUS ASSIGNEMENTS AND SCHEDULES
2024-2025 Student Transportation Schedules are now accessible in the Parent Portal under, "Transportation."
We suggest students arrive 10 minutes early to the bus stop until a routine is established.
We ask parents to be patient during the first two weeks. Drivers need time to adjust to new stops and help our students.
#5
SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE APPROACH
Character Education is a big part of your student's learning at Titus.
Our 5 pillars of PRIDE, RESPECT, INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY, DETERMINATION, and EMPATHY are the cornerstones of our learning and growing.
We will continue use these pillars throughout our school and we will expand on our Paws for PRIDE program this year. Thank you for reminding your children of these important qualities.
We look forward to our continued partnership and we guide our Titus Tigers to be the best versions of themselves.
Have a Memorable Labor Day Weekend!
SEE YOU TUESDAY - CAN'T WAIT!
