Elk Neck Express
June 9, 2024
Good Afternoon,
I hope this letter finds you and your family in good health and high spirits as we wrap up the 2023 -2024 school year. It is with a mixture of gratitude and sadness that I write to inform you of my decision to retire from Cecil County Public Schools and as Principal of Elk Neck Elementary School, effective July 1, 2024.
Serving as the principal of this wonderful school has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life. Over the past four years, I have had the privilege of working with a dedicated staff, supportive parents, and, most importantly, inspiring students. Together, we have achieved many milestones and created a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
Throughout my tenure, I have witnessed incredible growth and accomplishments within our school community. We have implemented innovative programs, enhanced our curriculum, and fostered a culture of respect and kindness. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together and am confident that the school will continue to flourish.
As I prepare to embark on this new chapter in my life, I want to express my deepest appreciation to each of you. Your support, involvement, and trust have been instrumental in making our school a special place. It has been a joy to see your children grow, learn, and succeed, and I will carry these memories with me always.
A new principal (who has yet to be named) will begin effective July 1, 2024 and I am committed to ensuring a smooth and seamless transition. I am confident that the new principal will continue to uphold the values and standards that define Elk Neck.
Please join me in celebrating the wonderful journey we have shared. While I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, I will deeply miss the daily interactions with our students, staff, and parents. I look forward to staying in touch and hearing about the continued successes of our school community.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support and partnership. If you have any questions or would like to share your thoughts, please feel free to contact me.
With warmest regards,
Regina

Staff and Classroom Updates
In an effort to keep you up to date with staffing and classroom placements for next year here is the most recent information I have to share:
- Staffing has NOT been confirmed at this time, which means I do not have the number of teachers teaching at each grade level for the 2024 -2025 school year yet. I certainly have an idea but nothing has been confirmed. Therefore,
- Students will not receive their classroom placements for next school year on their report card at the end of this school year.
- The only way this would change is if I received confirmed staffing tomorrow, Monday, June 10, 2024.
Early Dismissal and Fifth Grade Promotion
Early Dismissal:
- This week we have three Early Dismissal Days; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
- ALL three days dismiss at 1:30, this includes Wednesday.
Fifth Grade Promotion:
- As of a check of the weather today, we are planning to hold the Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony outside on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 9:30 AM. This means you can brings as many people as you would like to as guests:)
- Should it rain, the ceremony would be moved inside and the number of guests would be limited to two. You will receive correspondence should we have to move inside for the ceremony due to the weather.
- Please refer to the Fifth Grade Promotion letter that was sent home for details.
