Idea Center
The Idea Center is a place where I learn about myself and others, use my brain, and be creative each day!
A Note About Halloween (Thursday, October 31st--1st/2nd grade LEAP Day)
We do not have parties on Halloween, but students are allowed to wear their costume, if they would like to. They must follow the district requirements listed below:
Students are welcome to wear costumes to school on Halloween, which will be Thursday, Oct. 31. Costumes are optional, and to ensure that the school day proceeds without interruption, they must meet the following requirements:
Students must be able to wear the costume to school and throughout the school day without any adult assistance (no changing clothes at school)
Costume must not cover the face.
No violent or potentially disturbing costumes.
Recent Co-pilots!
Thanks for making a difference at the Idea Center!
Rowan L.--Offered to play with a student at recess who was feeling left out.
Robbie H.--He helped me by getting my lunchbox to the idea center after recess while I went to the nurse’s office. (Student nomination)
Robbie H.--During Robbie's free time he decided to clean up the donut hole.
Brecken L.--On 5th grade strings days, Brecken has started bringing in the instruments for the students, so they won’t forget to take them home!
Wyatt M.--Wyatt used some of his leadership and science skills to help a third grade group build their marble run. The group had a plan, but struggled to execute it, so Wyatt helped them follow their plan and create an amazing marble run.
Elijah H.--Elijah always does a good job including others and asking students from his class who don’t have a partner if they would like to work in his group. He did that a couple of times this week during science.
Anu W.--Helped tutor another student on a math skill and explained each step well to help the other student understand.
Eliza M.--Showing empathy towards friends who needed a little extra support with emotions. Helping them to feel relaxed and better.
Simon B.--Simon is always willing to help out in class, whether it be helping his teachers or his classmates. He quickly put away all of Mrs. Bergman's math books for the year, and he is a knowledgeable source for his classmates in math class. His kindness and leadership are super appreciated!
Jack Ba.--Jack was quick to volunteer to help a classmate catch up in math after being sick. He kindly used his work time to go through the math book pages with his friend. I appreciate you, Jack!

THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING!
Dear Families,
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent
reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: November 11, 2024 to November 15, 2024
Location: Lindbergh Idea Center
Family Event schedule and location: Friday morning, November 15th…More information to come.
Families may shop from 3:35-4 pm any day of the week.
There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage: https://scholastic.com/bf/lindberghideacenter
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds. When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called
Share the Fair™. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books
from the Fair. Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope you’ll join your child at our school’s Fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever.
Happy reading,
Dr. Tracy Bednarick-Humes (Gifted Coordinator and Idea Center Principal)
PS: Need one more reason to visit the Book Fair? Every purchase at the Fair benefits our school!
PSS: Interested in volunteering, email Susan Crawshaw at susancrawshaw@lindberghschools.ws.

A Note About Report Cards
Middle School 6th and 7th grade teachers are using a standards-based grading system to track your child's progress toward specific learning goals. This helps us provide more personalized support.
What to Expect:
You may notice that your student's initial grades may be lower than what they are accustomed to. This is because teachers are assessing their progress towards mastery of specific standards, rather than simply assigning a grade based on their overall performance. As your student continues to grow and develop their skills, their grades will reflect their progress.
We encourage you to communicate with teachers if you have any questions or concerns about your student's progress.
Together, we can work to ensure that your child is receiving the support they need to succeed. Thank you for your understanding and support.
