Jeju Shinhwa Casino GGR

Jeju Shinhwa World Casino, which opened at a South Korean resort on Feb. 25, posted a gross gaming revenue (GGR) of HK$650 million ($82.8 million) in its first quarter of operation.

The venue's rolling chip sales from its VIP gambling business totaled HK$16.2 billion between Feb. 25 and March 31, property promoter Landing International Development said in a voluntary and unaudited first-quarter business highlight on Wednesday.

The group said the total non-game revenue of Jeju Xinhua World, described as a "flagship integrated leisure and entertainment resort" in Jeju Island, South Korea, was about HK$320 million during the reporting period.

Some out-of-game elements of the resort opened in phases in April 2017, starting with a service apartment complex called Somerset Jeju Xinhua World.

Following the opening of the first phase of Jeju Shinhwa World, the group "took steps to strengthen sales and marketing activities," Landing International said in a filing on Wednesday.

It included "engaging cooperation agreements with various travel agencies and online travel agencies in various major markets, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, Japan and Southeast Asia, to promote and market resorts to customers using their respective networks."

The group said it employs about 1,950 people as of the announcement date.

Other facilities of Jeju Shinhwa World currently in operation – currently offering about 1,400 rooms, according to Wednesday's filing – include the luxury hotel Jeju Shinhwa World Landing Resort, the Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort and Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World, the Landing Convention Center, a K-pop theme zone called "YG Republique," a Shinhwa theme park opened in late September, and a shopping district branded as "Shinhwa Shops."

Under the name Jeju Shinhwa World Shinhwa Resort, an outdoor entertainment zone called "Shinhwa Water Park" will open at the resort in the summer, along with 538 self-branded hotel rooms. By 2020, the group aims to open a four-season resort and spa with about 200 rooms and a theme park called Lionsgate Movie World.
