The Cougar Connection
Lafayette Elementary April 14th, 2025
Greetings Cougar Families,
We hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend weather as much as we did! Megan spent the weekend getting outside as much as possible. Robin spent some time doing some early gardening and had some fun with pups at the dog park.
We want to take a moment to thank the parents who have taken time to brainstorm with us about staffing for next year. We're especially grateful to those who reached out by phone, email, or in person at SAC and PTO meetings. Your input is truly valued, and we’re excited about the thoughtful ideas we have to carry forward into next year’s planning.
We are incredibly proud of our Cougars for showing dedication, perseverance, and focus throughout state testing. Their hard work truly deserves to be celebrated! Students enjoyed some well-earned rewards, including extra recess, bear-themed snacks, and fun classroom activities.
Our fifth graders will wrap up the science assessment and make-up testing this week. Keep up the great work, Cougars!

Letter from Angevine Middle School to Rising Sixth Graders
Dear Parents/Guardians and Incoming 6th-Grade Students,
Welcome to the Angevine Community! Your 5th grader is about to begin an exciting transition process to middle school and we are looking forward to supporting them through this process.
To begin the transition process, Angevine counselors will be visiting your student’s elementary school soon to answer any questions they have about Angevine and middle school in general. Later in April and May your child’s elementary school will visit Angevine for a tour as a whole class and they will tour the building with counselors and future 8th grade students from our welcoming and transition team called Bobcat 360. If your student is coming from a different elementary school, outside of Lafayette, they are welcome to join the tours here at Angevine. This is a great opportunity for students to ask questions about Angevine and to continue the discussion about the transition to middle school. The tour date is:
Student visits to Angevine:
Lafayette: May 1st @ 9:45am
Course Selection Process for 6th Grade Students 2025-2026:
In order to begin the registration process for attending Angevine, ALL students need to fill out the music course selection form by **April 1st: 25-26 AMS Music Course Selection Form
Math: Your student will automatically be placed in the appropriate level for math based on end year assessments and teacher recommendations. If your student does not attend a BVSD elementary school, please have the student's 5th grade teacher email us with the recommended math placement.
All incoming 6th graders will have an exciting first day of school, just for 6th grade students and Bobcat 360 leaders. The Bobcat 360 leaders will help the incoming 6th graders transition to Angevine by playing games, helping them find their classes, opening lockers, and much more!
*Schedules for 6th graders will be handed out the first day of school*
Incoming parent/guardian transition evening and daytime event date:
Thursday, May 1st 5:30- 6:30 pm (In person)
If you have any registration questions call our Registrar at 720-561-5800 or email: sonia.menjivar@bvsd.org. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Dear Families,
As spring unfolds, we are excited to share preparation tips regarding CMAS assessments, upcoming transitions, and resources to help our students thrive. This newsletter focuses on our 5th graders as they prepare for the big transition to middle school, along with information for all grades.
🌼 Springtime and Growth
Spring is a time of renewal and growth. It's the perfect opportunity for students to reflect on their achievements and set new goals. Encourage your child to take some time to think about what they have learned this year and what they hope to accomplish in the coming months.
🏫 Transition to Middle School for 5th Graders
As our 5th graders prepare to transition to middle school, we want to ensure they feel supported and informed. Here are some important details:
Orientation Days: We have an upcoming morning field trip for all 5th graders to go to Angevine an May 1st (see the attached letter).
Tips for a Smooth Transition:
Encourage your child to ask questions and express any concerns they may have.
Discuss the importance of organization and time management as they adjust to a new routine.
Reinforce the value of making new friends and getting involved in extracurricular activities.
🌟 Resources for Families
Support for Students: Our counseling office is available to help students navigate their feelings about transitions and testing. Encourage your child to reach out if they need support.
Parent Workshops: The evening of May 1st, from 5:30 - 6:30, presented by Angevine Middle School (see the attached letter).
