💚💛 SERVE WITH YOUR HEARTS 💛💚
A Note From Mrs. Smith...
Thank you all for preparing your children for a fabulous start to the 2024-2025 school year! The first day nerves and tears were quickly replaced by smiles as even our youngest students settled in with their teachers and classmates.
Special thanks to the following:
- Our teachers -- They spent the last weeks of August preparing their classrooms so they were ready to welcome your children. We truly have a dedicated faculty and staff!
- Our custodial staff (lead by Mr. Darnell Boardley) and our maintenance staff (lead by Mr. Vincent Verrico) -- I can't thank them enough for their efforts. The school is sparkling and all furniture and materials are in place.
- Mrs. Scioli -- She spent the summer preparing FACTS and Genesis for the new year and handled all student records and registrations for new students. We wish her well and thank her for her work in the school as she moves into a part-time position in the parish office. Mrs. Scioli will continue to manage our FACTS system. You can reach her at FACTS@olgc.me with any tuition or wraparound care fee questions.
- Fr. Jim and Fr. Jack -- These two constantly support our students and their achievements. I don't think there was anyone more excited to welcome our students back to campus than Fr. Jack, and Fr. Jim spent many hours in his jeans sprucing up our ECC yard and making repairs throughout the school.
You may have heard a new voice if you called the school this week. We welcome Ms. Debbie Kalbach as our new administrative assistant in the main office. She will be your contact at school@olgc.me.
Mrs. Julia Ferrandino returns as our school nurse, now on a full time basis. She will be at OLGC every day.
We will introduce our new teachers and staff, along with those returning, at Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, September 18th. Parents of PK3 - 3rd grade students will visit classes beginning at 6:30 PM. All parents will assemble in the gym at 7:45 PM for our Sate of the School report and first General PTA meeting of the year. Parents of students in grades 4-8 will visit classrooms following the meeting. More details will be sent about this night separately.
Plan to attend this important evening to meet teachers and hear about their plans and procedures for the school year. You will also meet our PTA Executive Board and learn how you can become active in our school.
Please remember that Back-to-School Night is not the time for an individual meeting about your child. Be sure to introduce yourself, but contact teachers through email if you need to schedule a conference to discuss anything in particular about your child.
Our school theme this year is SERVE WITH YOUR HEARTS. You will hear more about this at Back-to-School Night and in the coming weeks from teachers. We will be deliberate in our efforts to support our students as they embrace their call to serve others.
I look forward to a successful school year for all!
God Bless,
Mrs. Cynthia Smith
