Staff Spotlight/Shout Outs π
Georgia Debczak
I would like to shout out our newest 5th grade teacher Mrs. Georgia Debczak! Not only did she join our school with her feet running, she is a wonderful addition! I can see her passion for education by what her students tell me and they LOVE her! Her ease into her new team does not go unnoticed and I see her working so hard to make sure everyone has the best year. We are lucky she is a part of our district and I can't wait to see the great things she accomplishes this year! Go Mrs. Debczak!!
~ Katherine Patrico
Christina Hurt
I want to shout out Christina Hurt. She spent a couple of hours after school discussing Class Bank with me, since we are both trying to find the best ways to use it school-wide. We strategized the ups and downs of utilizing this new program seamlessly and efficiently. I appreciate all she is doing to help make the use of our technology programs easier for us and the students to navigate.
~ Abbey Collins
Keegan Collins
I would also like to shout out Mr. Collins! Mr. Collins has taken on a new role as a first grade teacher and although I am sad to see him leave the 2/3 looping team, I see the great things he is doing in first! We share a lot of siblings of students and they are always telling me what fun they are having and all the learning they are doing! Proud of you Mr. Collins!

NEW SECTION - Innovative Teaching Tools
Graffiti Brainstorm & Graffiti Walls
Using a Graffiti Brainstorm teaching strategy is a great way to activate studentsβ knowledge about a topic of study. It is really important that we as teachers add variety to our lessons. No student wants to read and answer questions every class. Students need time to interact with their peers and share their ideas. This teaching strategy is fantastic as it adds a different element to your lessons beyond the textbook. Click HERE for more information and step by step directions for implementation.
Graffiti Walls are a simple, fun, and interactive way to get kids involved in their learning. All you need is a blank whiteboard or some sheets of butcher paper to get started. Kids can write, draw, and express themselves as they learn and review a variety of subjects. Click HERE to access 20 engaging ways to teach with Graffiti Walls.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Indigenous Peoples' Day - Monday, October 14th
Formerly recognized as Christopher Columbus' Day, a total of 20 states including Michigan now recognize this federal holiday as Indigenous People's Day. This shift in recognition started with a conference in the United Nations in 1977 and has grown steadily since. This effort calls on us to reframe our understanding of the "discovery" of "new lands" by European powers, and to respect those peoples who had built civilizations and cultures that persevered for thousands of years prior to European contact.

Did you know... π‘
Did you know Australia is wider than the moon?
The moon sits at 3,400 kilometers (2,113 miles) in diameter, while Australiaβs diameter from east to west is almost 4,000 km (2,485 miles). The Moon, as a sphere, has more surface area, but it's still pretty impressive.
